I have been quite enamored of Mystele's style
of what she calls "Pulled Art".
She makes a mess of a background then
"pulls" images out of it.
She has lots of videos showing how she does it.
Here's what I started with this morning.
I wanted to illustrate the verse from Timothy:
"All scripture is inspired by God
and is useful for teaching,
for refutation, for correction,
and for training for righteousness..."
So I needed to find someone reading the Bible!
Do you see the figure on the right?
Here she is!
I didn't even have to draw her eyes!
Below are some more drawings in my journal
using the same technique.
And if you want to see more,
my two previous posts have
drawings where I "pulled"
images out of a messy background!
Mark 12:
"Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar,
and to God what belongs to God."
Since the coin has Caesar's visage,
Jesus says income tax must be paid
the government.
And we are made in the image of God,
we belong to Him!!
This verse is also from Mark 12:
"Hear O Israel, the Lord our God
is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength."
It is easy to love the Lord
if we know Him.
His love is compelling!
Who else suffered and died for me?

Love the pulled technique and how well you did it, Patsy. I always enjoy seeing what you've done. You've even inspired me to start doing simple colored pencil drawings in my journal. They aren't that good, but I'm enjoying it just the same. Thanks for linking up to B&BB. I'm praying you have a blessed week, and God "pulls" all sorts of wonderful things from the daily "mess" of life. : )
ReplyDeleteI am amazed!! Your work is beautiful and you are indeed blessed with a gift from God.
ReplyDeleteGreat work! Very inspiring post. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! It's like when we see things in clouds only it will last longer ;).
ReplyDeleteI really dig all the soft colors you chose. This color palette makes me think of clay and henna color.
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I'm always pulling out figures, etc. out of paint. It's fun doing that. I've know Mystele for a long time. I need to visit her blog, it's been awhile. She was always working out of her room doing videos etc. A lot of fun. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI know that you are inspiring me to experiment with paints in my journals! Love these. I like the colors and the Pulling Out style you have been playing with...Oh, such neat stuff. Our God is creative and He gives these wonderful gifts to inspire us! Thanks, Patsy!
ReplyDeleteThat is so interesting! It also sounds like it is a whole lot of fun!!
ReplyDeleteLove your figure you "pulled" from the background with all the wonderful blues.
ReplyDeleteThat process reminds me of Michelangelo quote:
Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.

ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful, Patsy! What an interesting and fun technique. I love how you were able to pull those images right from the background!
ReplyDeleteWoW...pulled out images, that's lovely! You have done an extremely wonderful job there :)
ReplyDeleteHPPF!
Our pastor used the Mark verse in his sermon today. I so so love our Savior! And the Scriptures given to us by God. How perfect is the treasure because that's what they are to me--my greatest treasure. The more I read it, the more I love it. "Thy words were good and I did eat them, and they were the joy and rejoicing of mine heart." They satisfy!
ReplyDeleteYour paintings and your blog are an inspiration, themselves. I love that we can all learn from each other and teach each other and enjoy each other's art.
ReplyDeleteYou are "pulling" such wonderful inspiration from your backgrounds... Beautiful!
