Paint Party Friday: I Thirst!

I completely forgot about making a post
and joining blog parties yesterday
as it was Good Friday.
Not exactly the best time for partying!

I read the 18th chapter of John,
where Jesus was crucified.
When Jesus said, "I am thirsty", He was given
a sponge soaked in common wine,
and they lifted this up to him using a hyssop branch.
I read this from the Blue Letter Bible:

Remember that these events occurred at the
Feast of the Passover.
During this feast, (Exod 12:22
hyssop was used to apply the
blood of the Passover lamb
to the wooden doorposts of the Jews.

It is interesting that the end of this hyssop stalk
pointed to the blood of the Perfect Lamb
which was applied to the wooden cross
for the salvation of all mankind. (Barclay)
In addition, the wine vinegar
is a product of fermentation,
which is made from grape juice and yeast.
The word literally means "that which is soured"
and is related to the Hebrew term
for "that which is leavened". (Holmans)
Yeast or leaven, is a Biblical symbol of sin.
When Jesus took this drink,
(i.e. a drink which was "leavened"
it is thus symbolic of
His taking the sins of the world into His body.

On Holy Thursday, we remembered the time that
Jesus washed the feet of His disciples.
Jesus is the perfect servant.
He not only served the disciples by
going down on His knees
to wash their feet,
but He also cleansed them,
and us,
of our sins!

WOYWW: He is Real!

I forgot it was Wednesday
and forgot to take a picture of my desk before I started
work on my journal.
But here is my desk after I finished
painting on my journal.
As usual I have lots and lots of stuff on it
that probably should not be there
and I am waiting for some time to cull it
and organize.

These are my paints that
have grown in number through the years.
I do not like mixing colors and invariably
use colors straight from the bottle!
Well, I usually put it in a little plastic paint pot
and then use it.

This morning, I read from Isaiah.
These are from prophecies about Jesus.
Do you know that there are so many prophecies about Jesus
in the Old Testament?
There are at least 333 prophecies
concerning Christ in the Old Testament.

Two computer scientists in the University of Oregon
ran this problem through the computer.
The odds against one man
fulfilling these 333 prophecies
were 67 to the 10th degree, a figure so astronomical
that it approached infinity.
More fascinating resources on those odds:

That is one of the reasons I believe
Jesus is the Son of God.
But another reason is because
of personal experience.
From when I was a child,
He has answered my prayers.
As I matured He has walked with me!
He has challenged me,
loved me, blessed me,
accompanied me in my trials.
He is real!

A Kingdom for our Prayers!

Last Saturday, my friend Mae, and I
did a "Creative Faith Journaling Workshop."
Mae taught about praying with the scriptures
and I taught the 'creative' part.

In 2006, (I think I've told this story before!)
I suddenly realized that even if I prayed and
read scriptures and meditated on them
in the morning,
by 10 am I had NO IDEA what I prayed about!
I could not remember the Bible verse
nor my meditation!
So I decided to embellish, to decorate
the Bible verse.

From using collage in 2006,

I now paint a Bible verse every single day.
"Why was this oil not sold for 300 days' wages
and given to the poor?" John 12:1-11

Mary lavished her costly perfumed oil
on Jesus' feet.
Whatever we give to God, our time, our money,
our effort, our resources-
they are never wasted!

Some people may think time in prayer,
time spent reading the Bible,
is a waste of time.
But that is because they do not see
invisible things!

This is what Jesus says to those who
wait with Him,
who accompany Him in His journey.
"You have stood by me in my trials,
and I confer a Kingdom on you."
Luke 22: 28-29

Lent is a perfect time to accompany Jesus.

"My sanctuary will be set up among them forever."
Ezekiel 37:28

If we spend time with Jesus,
lavishing our time and effort in
getting to know Him and His Word,
He will give us His Kingdom,
and He will set it up among us forever!

I think that is sooooo unfair!
A Kingdom for the measly time we accompany Him
in our prayers!!!!
