A Clean Conscience

I've got several canvases drying on

my drawers this morning.

I applied a second coat of acrylic paint

over them.

I'm looking forward to a creative frenzy 

this weekend!!

I read about the story of Salome this morning

in Mark 6:14-29.

She performed a dance on King Herod's birthday

and delighted him and his guests.

The King said, "Ask of me what you wish

and I will grant it to you,

even to half my kingdom."

You can only imagine how she danced 

to make the king offer so much!

Salome, Herodias' daughter, was young,

maybe only 12 years old.

What kind of background did she have,

what kind of family,

that would bring her to this situation?

Instead of asking for half the kingdom,

she asked at the instruction of her mother,

the head of John the Baptist.

Obviously, she and her mother

had more than enough wealth and power.

They did not need to ask for gold or land.

But what her mother did not have 

was a clean conscience!

And a clean conscience is 

worth more than gold!!
