WOYWW: Be Humble!

I missed WOYWW last week
as we had a summer vacation
But I did manage to visit some of you when I got back!

My desk this morning is a jumble
(I can hear some of you mumbling "So what's new?"

I have a pile of stuff EVERYWHERE!

Here are a pile of girls' faces on top of a
pile of backgrounds.

Beside is a pile of canvas.
I'm painting wall putty over canvas
to make paintings on it.
Sometimes I get commissions from abroad
and framed canvas is too heavy to send.
Maybe this will be work!

And on my other desk, my journal.

In 1 Peter 5, it says:
"Humble yourselves...
that God may exalt you in due time."

To me, being humble is knowing
the truth about who you are,
knowing your place in the sun.
This is me trying to be humble!

I have a crown because
I am daughter of the King!
Yes I am!
But I am also wearing an apron,
and carrying a feather duster
because I am His servant!

Once I gave a talk about our business,
I felt so good and proud afterwards,
because when I give a talk about
why our business is successful,
it always goes back to God!
He is the reason!

Well, God didn't approve.
He showed me this verse in the Bible
which says something like,
"Useless servant!
Should you be thanked for
doing what you should be doing?!!"

So that's my take on HUMILITY-
knowing who you are,
knowing your place!

What's your idea of being humble?

peek at desks and projects!

Hope you're recharged after your holiday; I love seeing your desk and knowing that however the piles are, there's room for your daily journal; nowing that you make time for art in and as this devotion is an inspiration.

  34. God has been teaching me that humility is waiting to share...sometimes I'll just spout my mouth out about something that I'm excited about, but it hasn't been written in stone yet...I have been trying to wait until God gives an okay to share...

  38. You inspire me always with your reflections of God's words and with your arts. It makes me wish: "I wish I could do the same". But God has given us different gifts and I have to develop mine with God's help.

Oh wow!! Loving the artwork, it's very inspiring! I'm loving that you're arty and a Christian.... a lady after my own heart. I need to get back to painting again, the last few years it's mostly been scrapbooking and cardmaking, but lately there's a hankering after paint and canvas again. I just need to get over the fear of the 'blank page'!!

    Thanks for the inspiration!

  46. Humble to me means accepting yourself for who you are and not acting as though you are superior to others. I don't mean that we can't grow and learn and change, but that we shouldn't spend our lives wishing we weren't ourselves. I love visiting your desk. It is a little piece of peace.

  51. Patsy, your art is beautiful and your words are a joy to read. I know I need to get a new computer so I can come back soon. However, the graphics cause the dreaded spinning rainbow beach ball to go on and on for me. It has taken over 5 minutes for me to get to the comment box.
