"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed you and I in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
as He chose you and I in Him,
before the foundation of the world,
to be holy and without blemish before Him.
In love, He destined you and I
for adoption to Himself through Christ Jesus."
Ephesians 1:3-5
Hetty Green was called "Americas Greatest Miser"
because her stinginess was legendary.
She wore one old black dress and
had only the dirty hem washed.
She ate cheap pies and cold oatmeal
because she hated spending for heating it.
Even if she had millions from her success in real estate and investments,
when he son broke his leg as a child,
she tried to get him treated in a free clinic.
Because of delay and years of poor treatment,
his leg had to be amputated.
When she died in 1916, she left an estate of $100 million.
We don't want to be like Hetty Green, do we?
So let's not wait to discover how rich we are!
God has blessed us with EVERY spiritual blessing!
That's more valuable than any earthy blessing!
More valuable than $100 milllion!
And the best part is, He chose us to be adopted into His family!
I am super excited about that! Are you?
"In Him you...were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
which is the first installment of our inheritance..."
Ephesians 1:13-14
First installment. Downpayment. Earnest money.
Guarantee. Engagement ring. Pledge.
When we buy a condominium, lot or a car,
the seller usually asks us to give a deposit
to show we really have the intention of
going through with the purchase.
In 1 Peter 1:4, Peter talks of our inheritance
which is incorruptible, undefiled and unfading.
It is beyond the reach of decay, and it is kept in heaven for us.
We don't have to worry about termites
eating away our inheritance,
or that it will lose its value because of inflation,
or that it will disappear because of a natural calamity.
Although that inheritance is in heaven,
we can have a foretaste of it here on earth,
because of the Holy Spirit.
We're heirs!
The Holy Spirit will work in us and through us,
to make sure we get our inheritance, starting right now.
We just have to accept Jesus,
love and believe in Him, and most importantly obey Him!

This inheritance fills my heart with great joy! Your artwork is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe inclusion of Ms Green story is such a great comparison of how we can go through our spiritual lives not really experiencing the full benefit of our life in Christ. Love your art pieces.
