WOYWW: My Boat is so Small!

For the 1st WOYWW of the year,
I have two things I got from the mail yesterday.
A free 6" x 6" photobook, yey! Just paid for postage!
And a book I won from Julie Mcfillin,
entitled, "The Key to Everything".
I wonder if it will teach me to clean up my craft room!!!!

"Jesus got into the boat with them and the wind died down." Mark 6:51

I'm imagining a group of seasoned fishermen screaming, terrified, the Greek translation is "thrown into panic", because they saw Jesus walking on the water. They thought He was a ghost. The Greek word translates to phantom, and fishermen sometimes have all sorts of stories about phantoms and evil spirits that bring disaster.

Maybe fishermen spend too much time waiting, bored, getting dizzy from the waves, that they end up weaving fairy tales about mermaids and sirens, and all sorts of "fish stories".

The winds and the waves and the dark night all added to their terror.  But Jesus got into the boat and the wind died down, and so did their fear.

We went to the beach for the New Year holidays, and our kids decided to sail all at the same time. There were three boats. All the adults on shore kept their eagle eyes on the look out for them. My brother in law even went up to the club house to get a better view, and called the security boat to stay near.  If they got too near the rocks, my husband would have gotten a jet ski to "save' them.  I was thinking it's the same with God.  Sometimes, or most of the time, we are busy with our lives and we forget about Him. But He does not forget about us. Just as Jesus saw the disciples straining at the oars and decided to go down to the water to them, so our God is constantly watching us! Let us invite him into the boat, so we can make the journey with Him.

Dear Lord, the sea is so vast, my boat is so small.
Please take care of me!

  5. Well, I never... We were reading that passage this morning, too! Having Jesus in the boat certainly has made an enormous difference to how we have handled all that has been going on for us in the past month! God is good.
    Take care. God bless.

  8. I had planned to visit last night, but right after I linked to Julia, my electricity went off. It came back on a short time ago, so now I'm trying to catch up with everyone. Your art is gorgeous this week and spending New Year at the beach sounds incredible for this land locked girl freezing right now. No electricity means no heat! Happy WOYWW from #1.

  9. Wow, Patsy! This is the word I needed tonight. I've been feeling like I'm in that little boat with the waves tossing me to and fro. Thank you for the reminder that Jesus is watching over me carefully and not allowing me to capsize.

Love your artwork, as always!! So inspiring!

    Blessings - Julie
