WOYWW: Only Believe!

Here is my desk
when I woke up this morning.
I was making ATCs last night.

From where I am, we are having BED weather.
Rains and more rains.
But in other areas of my city,
there is flooding and evacuations.

Can you believe this picture?!!
Here I am at home, blessed,
safe, dry, no flood at all, just buckets of rain
And in other parts of the city,
people are waiting on the roof to be rescued.
So many things to be afraid of, to be anxious about
in a time of calamity.

I read in my Bible this morning
about a man, Jairus, who was very afraid
his daughter might die.
He went looking for Jesus.
While they were on the way to his house,
his servants came to meet him with
the news that his daughter had died.
"No need to trouble the Teacher anymore!"

But Jesus said to him,
"Do not be afraid any longer,
only believe."

What things do we fear?
What are we anxious about?
I have to confess that
my prayers are all full of
"Please heal my mother!"
I want to know what I can do,
what needs to be done,
how to pray,
who to see....
But I take this word today,
"Do NOT be afraid any longer,
ONLY BELIEVE."

Gideon in Judges, Chapter 6, was called by the Lord
to save Israel from the power of the Midianites.
"How can I do that?
I am the MOST INSIGNIFICANT
in my father's house!!!!", Gideon cried out.

"The Lord is with you, O champion!
Go with the strength you have...
It is I who send you.
I shall be with you."

NO matter how unimportant we feel we are,
God calls us, like Gideon,
to do something
that only we can do.
He gave us so many talents,
gifts, resources...
if only we could see ourselves
through His eyes!
Imagine God saying to you,
"The Lord is with YOU, O champion!"
If we could see ourselves
the way God sees us,
we will not be afraid.
Only believe!

Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!

This week,
Random.org chose

as she claims, and draws amazingly
with charcoal and graphite.

Yes, sometimes we feel so helpless. There are beeds on every sides and the best we can do is to run to God and He will provide.
Thanks for the words and the pictures.

  13. Sending love and strength for your Mother Patsy. Oh how alarming the rains are, it's hard not to be frightened by such forces around you. Your bible reading this morning is completely apt, if not a little challenging in times such as this!

  14. Hello Patsy.
I was praying for you all and your land last evening, when I saw the pictures on the BBC website (we choose not to have a TV licence for watching live television). How beautiful that Father God gave you just the passage you needed today - He knows you, and loves you so much. Rest in Him at this worrying time, Patsy. Remember, His plans are perfect and good.
Have a precious week with Jesus.

  19. Such beautiful work, Patsy. I especially like the one: do not fear. So many times in the Bible this phrase is used. I'm glad you are high and dry. I have wondered about you and Peggy and the others from that area.

  20. Your posts are always such a blessing to me, Patsy and I'm renewed each time I read. I'm like you, I read my Bible in the mornings. As we read in Lamentations 3:23, "The Lord's mercies are new every morning", and God and His Word are just waiting to bless us. It will NEVER return void. When we open our hearts to His Word and His messages, He will teach us something new each time we open His precious Word. This is how we grow so that we can bless others. Thank you for reading the Word, sharing your art, serving God, and being a blessing and encouragement in my life. I can only hope that I do the same for you, and that together, we can LIFT UP AND PRAISE THE HOLY NAME OF JESUS. I am so blessed to know you and to worship Him with you from all the way across the world. That's how AWESOME our God is!
Thanks for stopping by to share with us and have a very blessed week.

  25. Once again, this was exactly what I needed to hear/see today. God is good to give the these reminders that I do not need to fear and that He will give me strength to face whatever's ahead.

  27. Now I am just in tears! Let me explain. Your post is the 4th one I have read from UNITE about seeing.i.e. "If only we could see ourselves
through His eyes!" The last three in a row have been on the same subject. I know it's God...only God. Plus, your top painting just struck me...brought me tears..real tears. She looks like me. A sharp nose, no upper lip...and of course, her eyes struck me. Then your words? "Don't be afraid". I knew that was God speaking to me. He is using you, friend. This site. All of you at UNITE. A million words cannot thank you enough! ~ Jen
