WOYWW 130: Delighting in God's Word

It's Wednesday again and here we are showing off our desks

Here is a closer look at the canvas I am working on.
This is entitled "Delight Yourself in the Lord".
The little boy is reading the bible on top of the tree.
I am going to put a little girl on a swing
on the right and the words on the left.

A close-up of my journal page from yesterday:
"Blessed are the EYES that see what you see."
Indeed so many prophets, kings and ordinary people
like you and me longed to know and see the Savior.
When we read the gospels, Jesus comes alive for us.

If you want to know what those numbers are,
I count my thanksgiving prayers to God!
A nice way to keep track of
how many blessings I have!
One thousand one hundred six,
since I started counting!

Roman 10: 17 reads
"Faith comes from what is heard,
and what is heard comes through the word of Christ."

I drew myself listening to podcasts on my new Ipod.
My husband surprised me
with an Ipod for my birthday,
and I started downloading inspirational podcasts,
because the bible says we can grow our faith
by hearing the Word!

Delight yourself in the Lord!

I am starting another canvas after I finished my
This is another commissioned work
and the words for it is
"Delight yourself in the Lord
and He will give you the desires of your heart."

I am experimenting with how to make the tree
using wall putty, and Grumbacher modeling paste
to add some dimension.

I really find joy in creating and experimenting,
especially if I am illustrating a bible verse!

Here is my journal for today.
It's not a bible verse but I thought it's good
to look back at the year, now that it is almost ending,
and see how we have grown,
and how we can grow some more.
How we can become better,
kinder, more generous,
less selfish.

How we can truly delight in the Lord
and delight Him by our actions!

WOYWW 129: A Bigger Table!

I finally bought a bigger table! Yipee!
I got tired of working on a pile of boxes!
However, I still haven't had time to fix up my mess,
just spread it around a bigger area!

I am starting on my 2nd commission,
having finished the first one, see below:

I am soooo ecstatic that the lady
who ordered it, loved it!
It was quite a challenge drawing Gandhi
(does it look like him?)

On my journal today:
Matthew 28:20 "I am with you always,
until the end of the age."

What a  comfort this is to all of us!
With all the challenges we face,
we can depend on God to be with us,
journeying with us,
giving us strength,
enabling us.
He will never disappoint!

On Poverty and the Word of God

I love collage!
You can actually make several versions
and choose which one you like!
I thought the eyes on this one was too big!
And she did not look filipina!
So in this version, I made the nose broader.
I still did not like how she turned out.

Tried a profile.
I think I like this one!

This is a commissioned artwork
with a theme,
She represents the multitude of
poor people in my country.
The houses on the side are a colorful
depiction of the many squatter colonies
we have in our overcrowded cities.

In my journal, a verse from Luke 19:48:
"All the people were hanging on to His words."

God's word is living and active and powerful,
sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword,
piercing as far as the division between soul and spirit,
of joints and marrow.
It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
That's what it says in Hebrews 4:12.

I believe if more people took the time to
hang on to Jesus' words and follow Him,
there would be less poverty and despair in the world!

WOYWW 128: Many Gifts and Talents

Here is part of my craft room this morning.

On a pile of boxes,
I am working on a canvas
commissioned by a very nice lady.
She gave me the words below
which she wanted put on a canvas.
My problem is I don't draw men
very well (unless it's somebody with
a beard like Jesus and the disciples!)
So this is a girl again!!

    Gandhiji’s Talisman

I will give you a talisman.  Whenever
you are in doubt, or when the self
becomes too much with you, apply
the following test.

Recall the face of the poorest and
the weakest man whom you may have
seen,  and ask yourself,  if the step you
contemplate is going to be of any use
to him.  Will he gain anything by it?
Will it restore him to a control over
his own life and destiny?  In other
words,  will it lead to swaraj for the
hungry and spiritually starving millions?

Then you will find your doubt and
your self melting away.

 On my journal:
The story of the
in Luke 19
got me to thinking about
my gifts and talents,
if there were any gifts
I was not aware of,
that I was not using.

God gave us many gifts,
talents, capabilities,
and He gave them for us to use,
to prosper us,
to fulfill us
and give meaning to our lives.
He meant for us to share
what we have with others,
and for us to build
His Kingdom here on earth.

It is good to take an inventory
of our gifts and talents,
the resources we have at our disposal,
give thanks for all of it,
and see if there is something more
we can do with it, so that
when we see Him face to face,
He will say to us,
"Well done, good and faithful servant!"

Knowing the Artisan from His Work

My journal page for Friday
is about how we know the artisan
from his works.
Like you know something about me
by looking at what I create.

We should know from the beauty
and order of creation,
that our Creator is a God of love,
that he wants to bless us,
and that He wants to provide for us.

And here is my canvas,
"Hold on to Hope".
I decided to put a real necklace
hanging from her neck.

I'm still thinking of where to put the words,
and whether it's going to be straight
or curving....

We are God's Garden!

Today is Wednesday and it's time to show off
our work desk again!
Here's a shot of my messy work area.
Can you believe that this is already a
cleaned up version?
I spent some time culling my magazines
and newspapers strewn on the floor
during the weekend because
I was fed up with having to either
step on them or over them!
This is my journal page for today.
1 Corinthians 3:9 is one of my
favorite bible verses.
I like to think of myself as one of
God's flowers in His beautiful garden!
Of course if we are to bloom,
the gardener prunes us.
Removing dead leaves,
brown spots and the like,
things that suck away life,
will enable new life to sprout.

It's like cleaning up and organizing!
You see new things,
(oh, so this is where it got to!),
you get a new perspective,
you feel freer, livelier,
more inspired,
ready to do more!
