Did you Admire Me for my Impertinence?

This is an ATC I did for an ATC swap- I did it for a lady who liked Pride and Prejudice. I used gesso for the background, then used several layers of acrylic paint. After cutting out a black and white picture of Giselle Bundchen (is that the right spelling?), I cut out and glued lace and fabric flowers from an old dress to make an old fashioned bodice.

What I like doing is cutting out flourishes (top right of ATC)- I use a lot of these not only for ATCs but also for my creative journal, scrapbooks, and other art works. It's a quick way of embellishing. I usually bring paper, a pen and a pair of scissors when I know I have to time (at the bank, at the doctor's, any waiting time) and I start snipping away happily and time goes by so fast! I put a lot of flourishes in my "magic book". More on that later!

Birthday Artivity!

I brought out my art stuff and asked my family to make ATCs for my birthday-
ATCs or Artist trading cards are collectibles. The dimensions of these cards are 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". Had a lot of fun!

If you'd like to have an activity like this, provide:
cardboard cut to size (2 1/2" x 3 1/2")
scissors
glue
magazine clippings
acrylic or watercolor paints
gesso or wall putty (use this on the cardboard to create texture)
different colored gel pens
colored paper to cut up
rubber stamps and pads (or you can use your paint)
needle and dif. colored threads or yarn

I also provided what my sister called a "magic book"- with lots of pre cut paper and interesting pictures. More on how to make your own magic book coming up!

But first a note about my dad- he didn't make an ATC, but in the picture he's holding up a newspaper picture of Manny Pacquiao! That's how funny he is!

Swaps

I recently joined Swap-Bot and here's one of the bookmarks I made for my first swap. It's forced me to do a little art each day, even if I have other things to do. I've also done my first ATCs, Artist Trading Cards, to swap also. So far, I've finished about 6 swaps, and received as many hearts! It's kind of adding some stress to my already stress-filled life, but this is the kind of stress I like!! I much prefer doing ATCs, and scrapbook pages, and bookmarks, than what I'm supposed to be doing now- a talk and power point I'm preparing to give on Wednesday!

Here's one of my journal pages. Started a journal of Inspirations and Encouragements. Used to be just a teeney weeney notebook I carried around in my bag. Decided I should put the quotations and bible verses and reminders in a bigger journal and put artwork so I'll remember it more.

Workshop

Yesterday I did a workshop about creative journalling for Ayala museum. The participants enjoyed and so did I! They got the stuff out of their kits and started painting and cutting up magazine pages and doodling!

I spent the afternoon visiting many creative ladies' blogs and it was so inspiring! I thought I just had to update my blog which has been languishing since such a long time ago! Here's my brother Robert's drawing of me and my son Josh- I'm always busy doing collages, or my diary/ prayer journal/ art journal, clipping magazines, scrapbooking, pastel and crayon etchings, etc. or wishing I could do them! But I find there's not enough time, so I was amazed at the creative output of all the ladies I visited this afternoon! They're superwomen! I wrote comments in their blogs and told them how awed I was because here in the Philippines, we have helpers- I should be able to do more cause I don't have to bother with cooking and cleaning and washing, etc.

Daddy's 80th Birthday!

Hmmmm

He'res one of my collages I did for Try it Tuesdays. After this I started putting gesso on all sorts of surfaces- a birdhouse, the cover of a scrapbook, thin and thick paper, etc. Hope to do more of this but I have to start doing a project for a Children's Ministry and start a recipe book for a fund raising!!!
