A lot of the comments I got from my last post,
was about how I make my little paintings.
I start with drawing what I want to highlight
from my scripture reading.
Then I trace my drawing with carbon paper
onto my background
which is usually splotches of acrylic paint.
Today's reading is about how
the eyes are the lamp of the body.
I also traced her veil and cut it out.
I glued down the cardstock.
Here she is, ready to be painted on!
"The lamp of the body is the eye."
Matthew 6:22
"What we take in through our eyes
shapes the focus of our hearts
and even our actions." (from The Word Among Us)
I have to confess that I am not very careful
about what I see on TV.
It is invariably on while I am in my craftroom,
and I watch all sorts of inane shows.
As I am working on something,
I can't really concentrate on whatever is showing
and I end up watching either a talk show
or something that does not require my full attention.
But subconsciously, what is my mind taking in?
I know about Kim Kardashian's baby
and how whats-his-name told Katy Perry he was
divorcing her!
I really need to be more discerning
when it comes to what I watch!
Because I want my heart and actions
to be truly in line with what God wants for me!
Sometimes our words-
even though well-intentioned and devout-
can drown out the words God wants to speak to us.
If I keep the TV on,
I hear all sorts of worldy things!
May I be surrounded by His love!
May I be intentional about what I surround myself with!
May YOU be surrounded by His love!!
Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!

You are a blessing! I love both of those. And appreciate seeing the process. As well as your confessions and hearts desires! :)Happy ALmost The WEEKEND!
ReplyDeleteIt's so difficult to stay away from worldly issues, so I know what you mean. Your work is as beautiful as usual, I especially like the eyes in your portraits. Blessings!
ReplyDeletelovely work, you are so prolific!
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is amazing! I totally agree with you and actually watch very little television. I like music on sometimes while I'm creating, but sometimes I just love the peace and quiet while I create. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful way to illustrate the scriptures, Patsy. I liked the phrase you used about being intentional in what we choose to surround ourselves with.
ReplyDeleteSweetness! Fun seeing the process too Patsy! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteLovely! HPPF!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portraits, compositions and lettering.
ReplyDeleteReally love the heart in her hand. :)

ReplyDeleteLovely works, so beautiful! <3
ReplyDeleteLove your art, yes it is difficult to shut out the world, I guess that is why we need to say close to God's Word. Blessings
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art and wonderful exhortation as always. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the verse Matt 6:22. . .the eyes are the windows of the soul. Very creative how you've added everything to her. I make it a point to never put the TV on during the day and only watch selected shows at night, but then I'm not really a TV person and never have been. Many Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pieces you are creating. Despite your concerns about what you take in from the TV it would seem your art still shines. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your process - I always love your little paintings and that they are inspired by the word of God is just wonderful. HPPF
ReplyDeleteSo cool to see your process. The piece is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up with In The Studio!
Wonderful painting and progression shots. Thank you for sharing :) I also get distracted if I have the TV on while I work, that's where i get all my useless information from! lol
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are wonderful!!! Yes, it is so easy to let the wrong stuff into our minds!! We need reminding all the time to be careful!! Thank you for your reminder!! I think this would be a good scripture for me to put in my scripture journal!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work...always fun to see the progression behind the art!
ReplyDeleteoh how wonderful!!! love seeing your process too!!!
ReplyDeleteYou illustrations are very sweet and I do love how your writing fits in with the design. I do have to disagree with you a little. I don't think one can totally shut out the world. We don't have to wallow in it. I know about the Kardashians but don't watch them mainly because they are boring and stupid. But I think one has to be aware of the world in order to know one's true path.
ReplyDeleteBeing aware is different that sitting and watching things that do not edify God. I think that's what Patsy meant. She got into watching stuff that really doesn't matter. Knowing about something doesn't mean we have to watch it or partake in it.
DeleteYes we need to know what is going on so we can pray - storms, fires, floods.
Blessings,
