WOYWW: Good Fruit

I've got ATCs that I found hidden in between stuff,
a piece of paper listing apps on my iPad
which I am trying to organize,
dirty water (so what's new?),
etc.

I read from Matthew 7:17 about Jesus
warning his disciples against false prophets.
"Every good tree bears good fruit,
and a rotten tree bears bad fruit."
So here I am drawing a tree with fruit.

After I drew my picture, I used carbon paper
to trace it on to one of my backgrounds.

Can't help thinking that this verse about good fruit
is also about how we parent our children.
We need not only teach them by our words,
but we need to be good examples,
we need to teach them by our actions as well.

We can't say, "Don't follow what I do!"

When I was painting, I was thinking about how
my son is better than me in so many ways.
He's conscientious about his studies,
he's a good friend and has wonderful relationships
with people of all ages, but most of all,
he's closer to Jesus than me at his age!
This tells me that when we do our best to raise our children,
even if we make a lot of mistakes,
God does the rest!

"Enter the narrow gate." Matthew 7:13
If we learn from Jesus,
He will be responsible for our lives
and teach us a new way to live
and to parent!

Yesterday, I embellished an aluminum tube
that used to hold Vitamin C lozenges
and made a container that I can put a nice letter in
for my sister's birthday.
See how I made this Personality Pillbox.

Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!

  6. Lovely art today. Yes, raising our children. But remember that God's promise is that if we raise our children, when they are young, in the way they should go - then when they are old they will not depart from it. Keep at it!
    Have a great week.

  13. So beautiful Patsy! So grateful to make my way here for the first time. And I loved this--->"This tells me that when we do our best to raise our children, even if we make a lot of mistakes,
    God does the rest!"
I look at my two boys who are now young men and am amazed at times by them when I consider all the mistakes I made. But then I realize God was at work.
    Blessings to you,
    Beth

  14. Hi Patsy,
I'm late getting around this week, trying to make it to as many as possible.
You are such an inspirtation in so many ways, so don't hold your son too high above you, as you reach out to many, many people with your words and paintings.
Love the good fruit journal page.

  15. Beautiful pictures as always. I love visiting you to see the readings you include. I'm not religious but I find it soothing to read the reading and see the picture that you have made. It's definately a time of good fruit. My strawberry plant has given an abundance of fruit this week and yesterday, I got a whole watermelon for just £1, an absolute bargain - and it is so sweet! Thanks for sharing again with us and I hope you have a great week. Take care. Lucy #37 x
