Paint Party Friday: The Wedding Feast

"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My Words will not pass away." Luke 21:33
Today is my birthday, and whenever one has a birthday,
one marvels at the passage of time.
I remember that I was traumatized about turning 25!
But now I am eagerly awaiting turning into a Senior Citizen!
It can't come soon enough for me!
I am even excited about the end of the world, and hope I witness it.
But what does "Heaven and earth will pass away,
but My Words will not pass away" mean?
In another translation, we can read, "Earth and sky will not pass away."
Surely it means that things are sure to change and keep changing,
but God's Word stands forever.

My grandfather, DD Alejandro, was appointed DISTRICT EVANGELIST
for Bulacan and Nueva Ecija in August 1915.
He became editor of the Tagalog monthly "Mabuting Balita" (Good News)
and an instructor in Union Theological Seminary.
In 1924, he became the Pastor of Knox Methodist Episcopal Church.
Then he was elected the first Filipino Bishop of the Methodist Church
in the Philippines during the Japanese occupation!

When he studied Philosophy in Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky
I can imagine him in the library pouring over hundreds of books.
When he became editor, he would have written his articles
on a trusty old typewritter.
As an evangelist, I suppose he would have had to walk through
countless dusty roads and knock on doors.
But today, his granddaughter, sits at her computer,
reads and listens to so many sermons and preachings
from evangelists dead and alive,
and can reach so many people around the world through her blog,
and FB and IG posts.
Isn't it amazing how the world has changed?
But in the midst of all this change and turmoil,
we can depend on one thing,
the Word of God stands sure.
"The grass withers and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God stands forever."
Isaiah 40:8

"Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb!" Revelations19:9
I don't know about you, but sometimes people come knocking on our gate and I do not want to let them in! Perhaps I am busy, or I do not want to buy what they are selling, or I am not interested in what they have to say. But what if you knew that she or he had good news for you? An unbelievable offer? Or that you won a car or a house and lot or a trip to Paris? You'd want to open that gate fast before the person left!!!

"Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man (or woman) hears my voice, and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with me." Rev. 3:20

Today and every day, Jesus extends an invitation. He stands at the door of our heart and knocks. He invites us to the marriage supper of the Lamb! I suppose there are many meanings as to what this supper is. But to me it signifies that Jesus wants me in a covenant relationship with Him. That's what He invites each and everyone of us to!
We have to decide, yes or no?
