WOYWW: What do You have in Your Hand?

This is my desk at four in the morning.
You can see a picture of hands, carbon paper,
and my ready made background.
I also have my bible reading:
For today I was reading about Jesus in Matthew 15
about the multiplication of the loaves and fishes.

After 20 minutes, this is my desk.
I have recently been enamored with
tracing pictures and painting them over
with acrylic paints.
Although I can now draw hands,
they won't turn out as good as this:

"How many loaves do you have?"
Jesus asked the disciples
after he saw the hungry crowd.
The disciples answered that they had
seven loaves and a few fish.
Now how could that feed a huge crowd?

"How many loaves
do YOU have?"
What do you have
in your hand?
Just as Jesus was able to feed the hungry crowd
with just a few loaves and fishes,
He will be able to feed and clothe the needy
if we give what we can.

This Christmas we are going to prepare
gift bags for 300 inmates of our local jail.
The first time we did this, I was amazed
at the resources that were poured into our hands.
This is our 4th year to do this
and I am expecting God to multiply
whatever we have in our hands
so we can give 300 or more prisoners
a Christmas party and some gifts!

I really do have to update my blog
about the Prison Ministry but it is difficult
because it is hard to bring a camera inside the jail!

"Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!"
Luke 10:23

  15. Patsy, I don't know what to say - TWENTY minutes to produce that artwork? Amazing. I love how it works so beautifully on the prepared background...oh even my putty coloured regular paint will be inspiring me at this rate!

  16. I just prayed, Patsy...that when you deliver those care packages to the inmates, perhaps someone will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the first time and be saved. We never know what will come of these random acts of kindness when we act on faith and trust God for the results. May God bless your efforts!
Thanks for sharing this with us at Word Art Wednesday. I will be praying for you!

  17. Your "hands" picture is so lovely and it is good to read about the gifts for the inmates. I am helping with parcels for the soldiers in Afghanistan and I was so moved recently to hear of one soldier who joined the army after growing up in an orphanage and, having no family, had never had a letter or gift whilst on active duty. His CO made sure he received one of the parcels sent out to them and he opened it like a 10 year old at Christmas.

  18. Thanks for sharing with SMWYG. It's true just because you can do things like your hands the long version drawn out it's nice to take a shortcut and just enjoy the process of painting.
