He is No Fool

"Whoever loses his life will save it."
Luke 17:33

Such a hard passage to understand.
I remember when I was young,
I stopped reading the Bible
because of a passage like this!

It is easier to understand when
you read the life of Jim Elliot,
an evangelical Christian who was killed
by the very people he was seeking to
evangelize!

Jim Elliot Photo

He said: "He is no fool
who gives what he cannot keep
to gain which he cannot lose."

Did he waste his life?
Heaven was so REAL to him
that he was willing to lose his life
to gain the treasure of  Jesus' Kingdom!

"The Kingdom of God is among you."
or "in your midst". Luke 17:21

Where two or three are gathered
in Jesus' name, He is there.
Do we realize that we can experience
God's Kingdom every day?

I have been preparing an ATC Workshop
for those who think they cannot draw faces.
I pasted faces from a magazine and painted over it.
The two drawings above for my journal
are also made using the same method.

Every week I choose one wonderful
visitor who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.

I know how much time and effort
it takes to leave a comment!
and I appreciate that soooo much!

This week Random Generator
chose #19,
Janet of  JKW Art.

childlike drawings.

  1. Patsy, your paintings are always so beautiful and these are too. Reading the scriptures to go with the paintings is such a blessing.

  2. Just a beautiful post, Patsy. I was just studying God's word today, and it warns US about being foolish. I want to show wisdom and maturity in my walk, and in my relationship to Him. I hope you know how much I apprecite what you share.

  13. The saying attracted me to your site. Our family is linked to Jim Elliot as Pete Fleming (who was martyred with Jim) was my husband's uncle. I like your art idea--something I might include in future cards I make!

    I'm visiting through Fellowship Friday!

  17. If all Christians lived as Jim Elliot, what an impact we would have on our world. Praying that we would all be "fools" for Christ.
    God bless -

  19. Your card has a certain naiveness that touches my heart. That cross in her hand tells the whole story. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us all.

  29. OMGosh, I love your illustrative use of that Biblical passage. Puts real life into reading the Word. I would never have thought of using magazine illustration within my painting. Thank you so much for the WIN, cannot wait until I receive my original. YAY! Blessings, Janet PPF
