Living Signs

My friends and I had a
painting session one morning.
We made backgrounds and faces.
What a lot of fun!

"In his apostolic letter
introducing the coming Year of Faith
(October 11, 2012 to Nov. 24, 2013),
Pope Benedict XVI wrote that,
"Faith commits EVERY ONE of us
to become a LIVING SIGN
of the presence of the Risen Lord in the world."
(Porta Fidei,15)

Yes each one of us should be a living sign
that God is alive,
that God is good,
that God gave us many gifts
and we should not only
be blessed
but we should bless others
with our gift!!

That's why I try to share
whatever gifts I have!

Our world in one way has grown smaller.
Our neighbor can be all the way
in the Amazon jungle in Venezuela!
I didn't know they had internet connections there
but they do!

But our neighbor is also the little child
who begs for money for food,
the prison inmate
who is hungry for some word of hope,
the call center agent
who gets complaints all the time!
Can we be a sign
that God is alive to them?
Or are we too busy?

"The Kingdom of Heaven
is upon you."
Luke 11:20

If we are living signs of the
presence of God here on earth,
then we are able to bring Heaven to earth.
"Thy Kingdom come," Jesus taught us to pray!

And if we find it hard to be
encouraging to others,
to give hope,
to spread love,
to be Jesus to others,
to stop complaining,
then all we need to do
is ask God for the Holy Spirit
to empower us!

"How much more will the
father in heaven give the Holy Spirit
to those who ask Him?"
Luke 11:5-13
