Here is my desk as I am preparing
to paint the verse in John 15:
"I am the VINE,
you are the BRANCHES."
You can see some ATCs I am preparing
for next week's WOYWW anniversary!
I have drawn this verse many times
and I thought that this time,
I will draw a woman
with a grape vine in her hair!!!
The verse continues,
"Whoever remains in me and I in Him
will bear much fruit..."
"..because without me
you can do nothing."
John 15:5
Picture yourself in a vineyard.
The grapes are lush,
bursting with color and life.
In the far side of the vineyard,
there is a branch, all withered,
brown, its grapes crumpled and dry,
and all because it was cut away.
"Anyone who does not remain in me
will be thrown out like a branch
and wither..." John 15:6
I don't want to be pruned from the VINE
and neither do you!
In an old fashioned version of this verse,
we can read,
"Whoever ABIDES in me..."
This speaks of LIVING in Christ,
having an ABODE in Him, a HOME.
Having the SAP of Christ
run through us,
His life, His power.
How do we do that?
The WORD of God is spiritual food.
It is sustenance for our spiritual bodies.
In Jeremiah 15:6, the prophet said,
"When Your WORDS came, I ate them.
They were my joy and my heart's delight,
for I bear Your name, O Lord God Almighty."
Let us eat God's Word, savor it,
so His sap will run through our lives
in abundance!
"Peace I leave with you..." John 14:27.
Jesus never promised a life
without challenges or problems,
but He did promise us PEACE.
When there are storms, there is an eye,
where all is CALM.
When we are in the midst of challenges,
we need to find the eye, where we rest in God.
Exodus 14:14 says, "The Lord shall fight for you,
you need only to be still,
hold your peace and remain at rest."

ReplyDeleteBeautiful thought isn't that in the LORD we have peace.. .. "we have peace with God, through our LORD Jesus Christ" Rom 5:1 and the world cant take that away (unless we allow it.. in midst of hurly-burly of life we can rest in that ..

ReplyDeletedonna#73!
What I can't get over is the way you allow the background colours to show through the skin tone - I'd never think to do that and yet it looks great! Clever touch :-)

ReplyDeletePatsy, as always your pictures are beautiful and the words so encouraging. I'm not very good at encouraging cards, I don't have the right scripture stamps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comments on my page, we don't live on our boat, just try to spend 8-10 weeks a year on it.

Thank you for your Word this week. Once again you are so spot on - without the Peace of the Lord, the Peace that surpasses all understanding, we are nothing.
