Here is what I've done so far.
I did not realize her arm was small
compared to her head and her body
till I had glued it on.
Now I am going to have to cover it up
with something!
Any suggestions?
This is how I did her face-
My sister Peggy told me the easiest way to
learn how to draw a face was
to trace faces again and again
till your hand muscles remember.
So that is what I did.
Linking with
and
what a beautiful job. Keep up the good work!!!
ReplyDeleteI so like your version of HER!
ReplyDeleteGood likeness of the mag pic ~thanks, namaste, Carol (A Creative Harbor) Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteHow about a scarf? You could drape it over her arm, have it go around her back or something like that. I don't now if you'd call it a scarf or a shawl, but I see them everywhere. =)
ReplyDeleteLove your work.
I love it, Patsy, and I don't think you should cover/change her arm! It's perfectly imperfect and lovely in so many ways :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jennifer - I don't think you need to cover it up.... it's stylized! :o)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece... and I love the idea about "tracing" faces until your hand remembers. Seems like there could be a neat spiritual parallel to that...
Thanks for sharing!
I love it like it is...but you can do what feel right for you because this is your art. I think it is wonderful..don't nit-pic the sizes of things. it was meant to be as it is , maybe right ? Just my thoughts off the tip of my brain. your sister is very sweet too what a great idea about training the mind with tracing faces to improve .. that is what I will try... I'm afraid of making people a little bit. I stick with my love of nature.
ReplyDeletehappy PPF..HUGS to you, my friend

Do you find tracing helps? I've not tried this but now it's been said I guess it makes total sense. Gorgeous work, thanks for stopping by my blog, much love Jenny
ReplyDeleteI love it : )
ReplyDeleteYou are talented.
What about a scarf that is draping around her neck and arm...would that camoflauge the small arm? I don't know.
A really lovely likeness! I wouldn't worry about the arm. It isn't a photo. It's a painting, after all. Sometimes we can over-work a painting. Stop and look to see if it is where you want it to be. I like the tracing over the face technique. Faye
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think it's fun and stylized the way it is but long sleeves might help?
I kind of like the arm as it is.... it looks right in a way. I am loving the way the background is developing... it has a lot of depth

Love it - we all go thru changes and adjustments with our art - part of that creative process right?
ReplyDeleteyour artwork is just stunning. thank you for the warm comment on my blog. you have such true talent so it means so much!
ReplyDeleteYou've captured the essence of her face to be sure, lovely work! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty face you have captured! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteYou've totally captured her smile. Amazing!
ReplyDeletethe focus point is her face, and it grabs one's attention..love your textures, i am going to try the tracing...and see if it helps for me too..
ReplyDeleteI think the arm is good and it's just so her.. like a shy girl. Love the technique. Great art!
ReplyDeleteThis is so happy, love all the bright colors. I didn't notice her arm until you said something, so it's mostly noticeable to you I think.
ReplyDeleteI think her and her arm are fabulous just as they are...but you could give her a bouquet of flowers if you really think you need to hide it!
ReplyDeleteWell done it is looking great and I like the arms being like that so I would leave it!

ReplyDeleteWOW!! You are seriously talented!! Beautiful art!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
Great likeness and wonderful background.
ReplyDeleteHi Patsy! You know, I hardly noticed the fault you identified. My attention was confined on her face and the great blending of colors.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I think she looks great just the way she is. I love your style! Beautiful work. Thanks so much for joining us 'in the studio' to share! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the arm too, but if you were wanting to cover it up, maybe have here holding a bunch of flowers!
ReplyDeleteYou may find researching DaVinci's golden means helpful for your figure drawing/painting. I know I did. When I started out with the figure I used it a lot in order to understand the relationship of one body part to an other. Here is a Diagram I did up using the golden means principal. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=332260079094&set=a.176661059094.122732.119894169094&type=3&theater

I like this the way it is, great job. If you really want to cover the arm because you feel you should I do like the suggestion of a scarf or shawl, but unless it really bothers you I would leave it as it.
ReplyDeleteGreat face! Love the cheekones. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you should leave it the way it is. That's the beauty of art, it can be perfectly imperfect. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Patsy,
ReplyDeleteThankyou so much for popping in and following me - I love your work, you are extremely talented, I will be back again, that's for sure. Hugs, Teresa x
