WOYWW: The Lord Bless You!

WOYWW at the start of the year!
And what do I have?
I am tempted to keep you guessing!
Actually I am trying to make a paper mache piggy bank.
I did not realize it would take soooo long to dry!
Anyway, it's for our monthly craft tutorial
in our shop blog, papemelroti.

Before the piggy bank, I was also
working on my planner
cause I decided to join the Documented Life Project
along with other wonderfully creative ladies.
Join us! It's free and FUN!

This morning I read from the book of Numbers.
The Aaronic blessing is the oldest known
biblical text that has been found
and amulets with these verses have been found
in graves dating from the First Temple Period.
This is how God instructed Moses
for Aaron to bless the Israelites.

During the Old Testament times,
only adult males descended from Aaron could
perform this priestly blessing.
But as Christians, we are all
priests by virtue of baptism,
and we can give this benediction to each other!

These words are so familiar to me,
that we can take it for granted,
but if you study the original Hebrew,
the blessing would read like this:

Isn't that amazing?
For the start of the year,
I want to bless you
with this Aaronic blessing!

  1. ah Patsy d like to put these verses in my cards think it is such a privilege and blessing to share it in every way..
    Numbers 6:
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

It is the peace for which the world longs and need.
    ..so beautifully illustrated too, Patsy.

  4. Your post has reminded me of the piggy bank I made at primary school. Moulded on a balloon with egg box legs and snout! Much patience is needed I think. Happy New Year to you x

  5. Happy New Year, Patsy. May the Lord indeed lift up His countenance upon you and be gracious unto you as you step out into 2014. I like the re-affirmation that Yahweh will put into place all that is needful to make me whole!! Wonderful.

Love the bank - funnily enough in a recent clear out I found a bank I made with D when he was about 4 or 5 (he's 21 on Saturday :)) shaped like a Power Rangers helmet! And I can see a piggy from where I sit even now. Look forward to seeing it done - it looks cute already. How did I miss you have another blog??? Senility, I suspect. so off to check that out now -

    Happy New Year WOYWW!
