"No one is justified by the law in the sight of God...
the just shall live by faith." Gal.3:11
No matter how hard this is to take,
the truth is we can't get to heaven by good works,
by being a good person,
or even by following every letter
of the Ten Commandments!
This is both distressing and
freeing at the same time.
St. Paul says the just man,
the man in right standing with God,
shall live by faith.
In Hebrews 11:6, we read that WITHOUT FAITH,
it is impossible to please God.
I can think of many things that I do
that I assume pleases God,
but if I don't have faith, it matters not!
the just shall live by faith." Gal.3:11

"Faith is believing what you want to believe,
yet cannot prove."
True or false?
This what many people think faith is.
Many a book has been borne out of this premise!
But faith is NOT wishful thinking.
It is not about believing in things that are not true or real.
In Hebrews 11:1, St. Paul spells it out for us-
"Faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for;
the EVIDENCE of things not seen."
Faith does not make God real.
God is real whether we believe or not,
whether we believe He exists or not.
Faith is our response to God
who has existed before time,
and desires to have a relationship with us.
That is the reason God revealed Himself to Abraham,
to Moses, and on through the ages,
until He came and revealed Himself
in Jesus and the Spirit.
Lord, continue to reveal Yourself in my every day life.
Help my faith to grow so I may
please you more and more each day!
"How much more will the Father in heaven
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" Luke 11:13
I don't know how many Life in the Spirit Seminars I've attended,
how many times I've been prayed over for the baptism in the Spirit,
how many altar calls I've lined up for.
Sometimes, my sisters, my brother, my dad and I
would be left standing amidst
people on the floor, slain by the Spirit.
One day I decided I would do it on my own.
I would 'speak in tongues' throughout the day,
on my way to work, at work, on my way home,
just babbling nonsense, to show God
I was serious in wanting this 'smallest of gifts'.

When I got to my bedroom,
I locked the door, and sat on my rocking chair,
prepared for the long haul.
I remember feeling something rise up from inside me,
like a fountain. And I burst into songs.
I did not understand what I was singing.
All I know is I was ecstatic.
Thank you Lord that you answer our prayers!

ReplyDeleteHi Patsy! This is indeed an inspiring post. I believe that great things happen to our lives whenever God is revealing himself on us. It may not always be favorable in the beginning but the ending always define the story. Same with all the challenges and trials that come to us. We may start disappointed and frustrated. In the end however, God will reveal himself on us with help of our faith and determination. Have a great week ahead and thank you for linking up in one of my Sunday series. It's always an honor and pleasure to know that you take time to visit my humble page.
