Lots going on in my part of the world today!
I said last Friday, I was going to have a
creative frenzy and I did!
Thanks to my sister Peggy
who kept checking up on me!
I finished one canvas.
This is entitled "Surrender"
which is my one word for the year.
She looks serious, doesn't she?
But surrendering is serious business.
I'm going to take the whole year
discovering what I am surrendering to!!!!
Work in progress no. 1.
I'm having a lot of fun with these backgrounds!
Work in progress no. 2.
Work in progress no. 3 and 4.
I'm trying to put wall putty on to thick drawing paper
and seeing if it's sturdy enough to ship abroad.
A nice lady wants one of my artworks
but canvas is too expensive to send.
Work in progress no. 5.
I put crackle finish on this one.
very strange effect!
Yesterday my reading was about the Syro-Phoenician lady
who was pleading with Jesus to heal her daughter.
I have always been troubled by this story
because it seemed as if Jesus was
insulting the woman by calling her a dog!!!
It turns out that in the original,
the word Jesus used was the word for "puppy".
Mark 7:24-30 shows a side of Jesus
where he wanted to test this woman's resolve
and her humility!
Take a look at my drawing of the dog!!!
Doesn't it look like a giant mouse? Eeeek!
In today's reading, Mark 7:37,
it says, "He has done all things well."
I relate this to Psalm 139:
"For you created my inmost being,
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully
and wonderfully made.
Your works are wonderful,
I know full well."
Let us thank God for being so careful
to put together all the parts of our body!
Even our eyebrows and our thumbs,
the smallest insignificant parts,
play a role!
Linking with
Blessings,

ReplyDeletethe surrender canvass is beautiful and I love the colours in the background to no2.
ReplyDeleteVery busy indeed! I love the word surrender and it fits me so much... I've been learning to surrender on Him more than ever and to the things I do not have control over. It is not easy as it takes a lot of courage and humility... but in Him everything is possible. Thanks for the inspiration as always!

Patsy, I ALWAYS love your posts and your artwork. I particularly like Surrender this week, and of course I can't wait to see everyone else when completed. I am a mixed media artist as well and I wanted to give you an idea about shipping your canvas. Have you considered that once you are done creating your work, you could remove it from it's frame and it would be light & flat. And depending on the type of media you used, you might even be able to roll it up! I hope this helps, but either way, best wishes! ~Lori
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented! I love your paintings. I wish I had just a smidgeon of your gift. But it's not to be. So I'll just enjoy it from your hand. God is good.
