Ask the Impossible!

I have to confess that
after I am Mary in the morning,
after I read the Word,
go to Mass, and pray,
I am Martha  all the way through
to when I close my eyes and rest at night.
I am so preoccupied with
the so many things I need to do in a day!
Like today, after I come home from Mass,
I need to eat breakfast,
brush my teeth, practice my talk
on Green Marketing.
Then I leave for Miriam College to give my talk.
After my talk, I will visit some
of our papemelroti stores,
to talk to the staff, check on how
everything is.
OR I may have to go to a branch
that is being renovated, etc etc.

I like the story in John 11:19-27,
because even if Martha has gone down
in Biblical history as a woman
so preoccupied with "work",
she is also the woman who
gave one of the clearest confessions of faith.
"Yes, Lord. I have come to believe
that you are the Messiah,
the Son of God,
the One who is coming into the world."
John 11:27

Martha is the woman who
had the temerity to approach Jesus,
and say reproachfully,
"Lord, if you had been here,
my brother would not have died.
But even now I know that whatever you
ask of God, God will give you."

Martha was the woman who
asked the impossible,
and received the impossible.
Lazarus, her brother, rose from the dead!

So let us be BOTH
Martha and Mary,
and see miracles happen in our life!

Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!

This week,
Random.org chose
#47, Julie of More of Him,
 a precious child of God
who loves to count her blessings!!

  2. Yes! Both Martha and Mary had valid viewpoints, and both offer us wisdom. Thank you for reframing that for me.

  3. I know what you mean . . . I am constantly in Martha mode. I need to get more balance in my life. This was very inspiring. It isn't bad to me a Martha, but balancing her with Mary . . . that's a better place to be.
    Thanks for sharing.
    Have a joy filled day.

  5. Hi Patsy! What a joy to see your art again this week! I am coming from Hear It On Monday.

What a coincidence! I did a blogpost on Mary and Martha last week. Their story is such a fascinating one, isn't it? So many ideas to think about. I think we are all mixes of both, and needed at different times.

So happy to be here today!
    Happy Monday :)

  6. I look forward to your words when you link to Sunday Stillness - I am a Martha/Mary too. I love your blending of the two types so we can be a mixture.
I have a children's story about Martha and Mary which I have not published - but this story has always fascinated me.
I was a true Martha until discovering Jesus. Praise Him.
    Blessings,

  9. I am always working on this, Patsy. Have you read the book Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World? Good stuff. But I think Martha always gets the short end of the stick. I love your work you feature here, as usual. So, so lovely.
