It's going to be Lent soon.
It will be Ash Wednesday in 2 days,
and I am already thinking what I can do
for this special season.
What can I do so that there is
LESS of me,
and MORE of God?
Help me to fix my heart and mind on you,
O Lord!
"Do not neglect to do good
and to share what you have.
God is pleased by sacrifices of that kind."
Hebrews 13:16
Usually, we think of "fasting" from something.
Food. TV. Shopping.
But how about something positive?
I thought of helping Boy Tambuli.
He was recently released
after 11 years in jail.
He was accused of murder
because he was in the same place
the murder occurred.
Perhaps if I could generate some funds
to fix his shanty, I thought.
"Put out into the deep and
lower your nets for a catch."
Luke 5:1-11
This is what Jesus told Simon Peter
and Simon Peter obeyed him
and got such a huge haul of fish,
he had to call other fishermen to help.
Those of us who know Jesus
and want to follow Him,
are also commanded to
"put out into the deep."
For sure, if we cast our nets,
we will be surprised at
our "catch"!!!
Maybe I can catch something for
Boy Tambuli? :^)
Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!

Your positivity is inspiring... I too have been thinking of my lent sacrifice. I like your thoughts on positive giving of yourself.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Journaling! Wonderful thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWonderful blog post, Patsy. I just prayed again tonight for Boy. Thanks for mentioning him again, and I really do pray that God will work in His life and bring glory to His own precious name through Boy.

I've Been Wondering The Same Thing And Purging Stuff Seems To Be Where I Am. I'm Not Working, So Do I Really Need Eight Pair Of Work Pants When Someone Else Could Use Them? I Just Moved In September, So It's Hard To Think Of Stripping The Things That Cost So Much To Move, But What Good Are They If They Are Just Things? I Believe God Has A Much Bigger Plan For Me Once I Remove The Material Excess. I Have All I Need In Him. Thank You, For The MessageToday. All My Best!
ReplyDeleteI am always so blessed when I visit your blog -- you have such a beautiful gift!

Beautiful lenten post! I know intentionality is what I need to pursue for lent, so He can be more and I can be less. Blessings!
ReplyDeletePatsy,
ReplyDeleteTomorroe is Shrove Tuesday. WE have wondered as well what to do. I was telling Taylor about satan testiing Jesus to turn stones into bread, and he countered with Scripture.
Your page is certainly beauty and thought provoking.
It is such a pleasure for us, having you post your beautiful card at WAW. We know your time is valuable and yet you bless us with this wonderful artwork. Thank you!

The Blessing of the LORD be Upon You!
What a cool idea to fast for something positive! Awesome thoughts. We just had a sermon on less of me being more of Him. Amen! Thanks for sharing.
