"I have set before you
LIFE and Death,
the BLESSING and the CURSE...
CHOOSE LIFE...."
Deuteronomy 30:19
Moses told the Israelites to obey God
and keep His commandments
so that they will be blessed.
There were a whole list of laws and
strictures to follow and obey.
It became very difficult for the people
to remember all of it,
much less obey!!!
But in verse 11 and 14, Moses also said,
"For this commandment is not too difficult,
nor out of reach...
the Word is very near you,
in your MOUTH and in your HEART
that you may observe it."
For those of us who find it hard to fast
during the season of Lent,
perhaps we are thinking like the
Israelites.
What we have to remember is-
God's law and commandments
always boils down to
LOVING Him and LOVING others!
In Isaiah 58:1-9,
we will see what kind of
fasting God wants us to do!
"This rather, is the fasting I wish:
releasing those bound unjustly,
setting free the oppressed,
breaking every yoke;
sharing your bread with the hungry,
sheltering the oppressed and the homeless;
clothing the naked when you see them,
and not turning your back on your own."
Is there someone you can LOVE today?
Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment

I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment

ReplyDeleteBeautiful blog! But I want to shoot "Anonymous"! I think you can change your Blogger settings so that Anonymous will not be able to comment.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, in regards to Moses, I think it's Number 12:3 that speaks of him being the meekest of men. I've been mediating on that this week ... how one must be meek in order to be used by the Almighty.
Your blog is one of the best I visit, Patsy. Always I take away with me a nugget of God's truth while enjoying your gorgeous paintings. I don't know who anonymous is but I think you can delete the messages. It is nothing more than spam, trying to get you and your readers to click on his link. Obviously, he hasn't even read or looked at your wonderful post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely expression on the woman who is holding/unwrapping the bread. Beautiful insights and reminders that God is love.

Our prayer/fasting took place the last 21 days of January. I added 2 miles of walking and worked up to 4 miles during that time also. It feels good to know you are doing it for God. I have decided to add prayer and fasting at least 1 week a month for the peaceful and healthful feeling. Blessings, Janet PPF
