Welcome all you WOYWWers out there!
I woke up to this desk.
I was planning to mail my ATCs
to the last two winners but was not able to
put them in envelopes before I left
for work yesterday.
Aside from that,
I have an upside down paint bottle,
my wall putty
and a cut up placemat
that I use for making marks for my background.
Oh, I shouldn't forget my faithful little Bible
who's been with me for years!
On the other side of my desk
I have an unfinished painting of Mama Mary.
She is piled up on top of my
plastic box of mark makers.
Oh what a mess!
I usually don't mind the jumble
until I take a picture of it on Wednesday!
I realized from the reading yesterday
(Matthew 25:45)
that even if I spent the whole day praying
and fasting because it is Lent,
I would not be pleasing the Lord
if I did not do something
for the people He loves.
We should LOVE the people God loves,
and take care of them.
If we do not feed the hungry child on the street,
we did not feed Jesus!
Never mind if you forgot to do it yesterday.
Or if you deliberately ignored
the beggar, or did not visit
someone who needed a hug,
or did not call up a lonely friend.
We can always repent
of the things we did not do!
The devil is the accuser.
Jesus is always calling us to do good things
but He is NOT the one who makes us guilty
when we are not able to do our best.
We just have to do better next time.
There are so many beggars
here in the Philippines!
I do not like giving money
in case the beggar uses the money
to buy Rugby to get high,
so I usually give food.
But sometimes I do not have food with me!
I just have to do better
and BRING food!
Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!
This week, Random.org chose,

We also have a lot of beggars over here in South Africa and the funny thing is, I just had a conversation with the girls in my class about them today. They all seem to think that every beggar is going to buy alcohol or drugs if they get money and I reminded them that my mother always used to say that we all have choice about everything we do. If we choose to give somebody money with a good and faithful heart, it is none of our concern what they choose to do with that money. I still battle with that, but I must admit that I am getting a little better.
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic week.
Happy WOYWW!

I hear what you're saying, Patsy. It's a tricky thing to be a blessing and encouragement to people while still being a good steward of what God has given you. We can always share a smile, an encouraging word, a prayer, and God will lead us to help in the way He would lead when we are faithful to seek Him in all things. I prefer giving food to the hungry instead of money to the beggar simply because of the misuse of money, and the fact that God entrusted that money to ME to be a good steward with it, yet He also wants me to show compassion and love. You really have to let Him guide you every minute of every day of our lives. Thanks for this wonderful post, and I trust that He will continue to use each of us to further His kingdom as we seek to let HIM lead our hearts and our actions.

Word Art Wednesday
Thank you for the reminder - your illustrations are lovely as usual. April #130
ReplyDeleteVery nice. Thanks for taking the time to pen this.
ReplyDeleteI love your first art piece at the top of this page, and the quote on the second one, about repentance. Did you compose that saying, or find it somewhere? I would like to quote it in a future (much future) blog post and want to give credit where it's due, and link here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your valuable reminders on this page. Seems God's been reminding me lately that this needs to be a daily thing...
Wow, such beautiful pieces. They bring a fresh perspective to the Word and beauty to the world. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
ReplyDeleteoh friend. there is SO much wisdom in this. i have been realizing this too, about Lent. we need to just keep serving others. sacrifice can become a selfish thing, in fact. bless you and your beautiful art.
ReplyDelete'an invitation to companionship' -- don't know which I prefer, the text or the wordart. They're both fab.
ReplyDeleteKeep on keeping on!
Blessings,
