I woke up late this morning
and this was my desk.
I was unraveling an old scarf last night.
I like unraveling sweaters or scarves
and reusing the yarn.
You never know what I will be able to use it for!
falls on Ash Wednesday today.
I went to mass and the priest
put ashes on my forehead in the shape of a cross.
He said, "Repent and believe in the Gospel."
Today is the start of 40 days of Lent
for Catholics and many Christian denominations.
We are supposed to fast, pray and give alms.
Fast from something,
pray longer,
and give alms to those who need it.
"Rend your hearts and not your garments,"
it reads in the 2nd chapter of Joel.
Really what God is looking for is a
change of heart,
a returning to Him.
In Genesis 1:31 we can read that
God looked at EVERYTHING He had made,
EVERYTHING!
and He found it VERY GOOD!
What God wants is we return to that-
fellowship and intimacy with Him,
reliance on Him,
trust and faith in Him!
Perhaps we can make these 40 days
a NEW BEGINNING!
Lent, after all, comes from the
Old English word lencten
which means spring.
And what is spring but a time of
fresh starts, a blossoming, a blooming,
a renewal?
Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!
This week,
