What's on my Workdesk at 5 in the morning?
Take a look and see if you can spot my cellphone,
a styrofoam piece I've cut up to make stamps,
glue, paints, and a dirty water container!
Here are some of the styrofoam stamps I made yesterday.
I used them to make backgrounds for my paintings.
Yesterday we had a deluge!
Torrential rains attacked our city and the surrounding areas!
90% flooded!
No school, no work. Everything on standstill.
While making my backgrounds,
I was praying and monitoring the situation on the TV,
on Facebook, on Twitter, and from text messages.
We were praying for a family stuck
on the 2nd floor of their house,
because the flood waters rose.
Although the rescue teams contacted them,
it was to say that they couldn't come,
the current was too strong!
So we prayed and prayed that the rains would stop
so the waters would not keep rising!
This morning, the text said that
they are OK and they are soo thankful
for their 2nd floor!
"It is I; do not be afraid." Matthew 14:27
This was the reading yesterday.
Although storms may come,
we should trust in the Lord!
"O woman, great is your faith.
Let it be done for you as you wish."
If we keep our faith, trust and hope in Him,
our prayers will be answered!
Every week I choose one from my
wonderful visitors who take the time
and trouble to leave a comment,
to receive an ATC or a postcard from me.
Last week it was JoDee Luna from
and she hasn't gotten back to me yet!
This week it is Lynn of Getting my Feet Wet.
I'm in love with those Styrofoam stamps. I never get Styrofoam because it is usually meat packaging. But I can see they make beautiful backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your friends are safe. I wish we had just a little bit of your rain. Oh and some cooler temps, too.
You asked about the jar on my desk. It's gesso and it lives there, as does my one and only Staz-on ink pad.

ReplyDeleteAll this summer I've thought about spiritual "drought" because of the drought I see all around me. Your post about the storms and floods of life, reminds me that both extremes are hard to face. (You can pray to send that rain our way! :) But so glad that the family you mentioned is okay and that you are trusting the One who helps us in all kinds of weather! Great post, Patsy!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that rain sounded horrible, so glad to hear that the family did OK. I'm so glad I live on the second floor too...unless one of the big Oak trees comes crashing down! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That is quite the flood. I find water so scary. It can be so damaging. I hope everyone makes it through okay.
ReplyDeleteYour desk is a sight to behold. I enjoy the piles of creativity.
We are lucky to live on a hill top so no floods. Thank goodness the family were safe. Hope the floods go down soon. x Jo

ReplyDeleteYour art fits so perfectly with what you've experienced. What a blessing to know that we never need to fear anything when our faith is placed in Jesus Christ, and to rest assured that He will never leave us or forsake us. What a blessings. Glad to hear that your friends are safe on their 2nd floor. Another testimony to the power of prayer!!! So many in our country are experiencing drought this summer and are praying for rain. Your art is beautiful and conveys the word so well. Thanks for sharing with us at Word Art Wednesday. Blessings.

The words you pick fit so perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that that family was okay--I can't imagine waiting with your family to see if the flood waters will reach you--such a horrible long ordeal--
Wow, Patsy. Love to see your artwork again this week. And I love what you've made. Especially with the flood over there. It's so right to not be afraid, for God is with us. Although I can so understand that a flood is something to be worried about. Pray you are all doing fine.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing your art with us ons WAW!
