Captive!

"To proclaim liberty to captives!" Luke 4:18

Not many of us see ourselves as captives, prisoners, or convicts. But all of us need freedom in some way. It may be from some form of addiction like drugs, alcohol, smoking, gambling, pornography, power, shopping, TV, video games, etc. Some of us need to be liberated from overly relying on others for our self image and approval. Or we may be sorely in need of Jesus' help to forgive. Unforgiveness and bitterness are like the worst of jails. We can't escape no matter where we go. Then there is pride, the worst gaoler because we don't see him and his heavy chains.

Jesus is capable of freeing us from the worst prison and the strongest warden. And the most wonderful thing is He wants to free us, from chains of our own making, or shackles the enemy has specially designed just for us. God is more than able to give us fullness of life, wonderful relationships, healing, a new vision and direction for the future. We need never doubt God's desire to bring us to a better place beside Him. All we need to do is surrender. Stop fighting. Let go and let God.

"Don't be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." Exodus 14:13-14
