WOYWW: Starting a Collage and some Recycled Christmas Decor

Here's my desk today.
I'm starting a new collage.
I'm experimenting with
using the
BACK
of a canvas frame.
I covered the frame
with collage papers.

A couple of days ago,
a segment producer from a local TV show,
Unang Hirit,
called to ask me to
make Christmas decor
out of
recycled materials.

Here's what I came up with:
a Nativity Set
out of a toilet paper roll,
a yakult bottle, a CD, scrap cloth and a used chopstick.
Tree decor
made of
water bottles
I cut into shapes,
and swirls
and glued glitter on.

Here's a poinsettia
I made from the top of the bottle,
which I cut into petals,
and glued glitter on.

And here's my journal for today.
The verse reads,
"We are God's co-workers,
you are God's field..."
from 1 Corinthians 3:9.

I related this to our work in
the local prison.
We "water" the inmates with
the life-giving Word of God,
but God gives the
growth.

If you'd like to take a sneak peak
at what other people have on their work desk,
head over to Julia.
I guarantee you'll want to
join in on the fun!

  4. Now this is MY kind of art. I love recycling (as you know), and I found all these projects were fabulous. The Nativity set might be a bit hard for me, what with faces and all, but everything else looks really doable. Love these.

  15. Hi,
The machine you are asking about is a blind hemmer...it puts that magic stitch in hems that comes undone if you pull a hanging thread :-)

  29. Hi Patsy, love your recyled bottles, what a clever idea. I recyle most hard plastics. All the nestie containers and the like end up in my craft room waiting to be changed into something useful.

You asked if I had two sides to my craft room desk..... Yeppers, cos it's my dining room table. I moved it upstairs as there is only me at home now and I don't fancy sitting down to dinner on my own at the table. I would much rather make a mess on it.
