WOYWW 134: Whoa! What a desk!

A blessed Christmas to all of you!
I hope you are having wonderful Christmas
with friends and family!
My desk is still full of the
debris of wrapping!
My journal is on top of a pile of
wrapping paper.
I use a glue gun for wrapping as it is faster
and saves me the aggravation of having
to retape packages that come undone!
Here is my journal for today.
From 1 John 1:9
"If we acknowledge our sins,
He is faithful and just
and will forgive our sins
and cleanse us from
every wrongdoing."

This verse is such a comfort to me as
we all fall short and make mistakes!

If you'd like a chance to win
a bracelet, my Christmas thank you
to all you wonderful visitors,
please see my previous post.

Have you said Hello to the Birthday Celebrant?

The Christmas season can be the
most stressful time of the year.
Buying and wrapping gifts,
making sure no one is forgotten,
not the postman nor the garbage men.
Preparing the Christmas tree, the nativity set,
advent wreath, and other decorations
around the house.
Going to the grocery, cooking,
baking, making cookies.
Making sure the children
know the meaning of Christmas
and it's not just about the gifts.
How about the Christmas cards
and the annual letter?

Please may we not forget to take time,
to carve out time,
to be quiet and be with the
birthday celebrant!
That way we can be renewed
spiritually and physically.
We can treasure the words
God gave us for this time:

For unto us a child is born,
unto us a son is given:
and the government
shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be
called Wonderful, Counseller,
The mighty God,
The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6

We must remember whatever
we give to the Lord,
whether it be our time,
talent or treasure,
whether it be our son, like
Hannah with Samuel,
God will bless and we
will never regret it!
Are you able to take time
and be with the birthday celebrant?

A blessed Christmas
to all my blog friends!
You have been so
wonderfully encouraging to me!
I appreciate all your support
throughout the year!

As a little gift,
I am giving away
a token bracelet
with a drawing of mine.
All my followers are included,
and of course all those
who comment below!

I'll do the drawing when
I come back from our beach vacation
on the 4th of January, 2012!

The picture above isn't that clear,
but below is the original from where
the design was taken.

Added January 7:
Well, I did not get to go to the beach
and ended up in the hospital instead!
I am recuperating now from
Deep Vein Thrombosis (!)
Never heard of that before!

Anyway, for the giveaway winner,
I added my GFC friends (335)
plus my Facebook friends (33)
and the comments on this post (26)
for a total of 494.
The winner is # 284 from my GFC friends.

And the winner is:

WOYWW 133: A Bit of Everything!

What's on my Workdesk?
A whole lot of.... well, this is just a bit of my desk.

And this is a bit of my room!
Just a little bit to give you a hint of the state of my room.
These are some of the gifts I have yet to wrap.
They are all piled up and I have hardly any space to walk!
The gifts I have finished wrapping are under the tree
and it's a jumble too!

I have done a bit of  creative work,
but I am not happy with these flowers
and will not use them for the canvas I am working on.
I am sure to find some use for them eventually.

And here is my journal for today.
Mary the mother of Jesus made haste
to visit her cousin Elizabeth.
Why did Mary travel so far, alone
and in haste to see Elizabeth?

I think Mary knew she would get the
support and encouragement she needed
during a very challenging time in her life.

Elizabeth gave her confirmation
that she was not crazy, that the
impossible was possible,
that what she was doing
was the right thing to do.

We all need encouragers in our life,
mentors, cheerleaders.
Like Mary, we should go
and find them, even if
it is difficult to do!

I am so blessed that my encouragers
and cheerleaders are not far away!
I have my family and brothers and sisters
in my community and I can depend on them!

The Gift

“Hail, favored one!” (Luke 1:28)
This is taken from
I wanted to share it because
it spoke so deeply to me:

"Face-to-face with the mighty angel Gabriel,
Mary was “greatly troubled” (Luke 1:29).
Gabriel announced God’s plan for her
to conceive through the Holy Spirit
and bear a son who would inherit
the throne of David and rule forever.
And Mary, despite not having
all the answers, was able to say:
May it be done to me
according to your word” (1:38).

The words are so simple, so faith-filled,
that we might miss out on
what was behind them.
By saying “yes” to the angel,
Mary also said “no” to many things.
She closed the door on
an alternative life that had its own attractions:
a life of quiet contemplation,
out of the limelight,
surrounded only by friends and family;
a life of simple joys and
everyday challenges.
And yet with just a few words,
she put aside all her dreams
to embrace God’s dreams instead.

We can read this passage
 and marvel at Mary’s faith—
and lament our lack of faith
in comparison.
But it’s important to see that
when he greeted her,
Gabriel called Mary full of grace
not full of faith.
Mary’s “yes” to God was
the result of the grace
God had given her,
not the result of her own willpower
and forceful personality.

This is a
key point for all of us
For in the final analysis,
faith is not something
we drum up on our own.
It’s a gift given to us by a
gracious, generous God.
It’s a grace that he pours into us,
a potent seed that is waiting
to be plunged into the soil of our hearts.
We may think we have weak faith,
but the truth is God has given us
all the faith we will ever need.
We just have to learn how to yield
to this great gift.
So what do you think?
Can you say “yes”
to God today?

Yes, you can. God’s gift of grace guarantees it!
“Father, thank you for the gift of faith.
Knowing you is the greatest joy of my life.”

To embrace all that God
wants to give us,
that is saying "yes!"
It is an adventure, a journey,
and we will never know
where God will take us!
It is not only Mary
that God wants to use,
that God has a wonderful plan for.
He wants to use each of us,

We all have apart to play
in God's great plan to bring
His Kingdom here on earth.

This Christmas, we are packing
300 gift bags for our local QC Jail.
In my other blog, Hebrews 13:3,
I recount stories about
our ministry there.
This is our third year
and we will be giving the loot bags and
having a Christmas party with them
this Friday.

Hebrews 13:3 says:
Remember those in prison
as if you were their fellow prisoners...
