WOYWW: Count the Cost!

Last night, I was experimenting with acrylic emulsion
to see if it was a cheaper alternative
to the silicone sealant I used for the project below.

Silicone is quite expensive
and I wanted to find something else
to make more Christmas ornaments
for my tree! Click on the picture if you
want to make your own :^)

After I cleared my table and got a small area to work on,
I read from Luke 14:25-33.
"Which of you wishing to construct a tower
does not first sit down and calculate the cost
to see if there is enough for its completion?"

If you have built a home, or anything
like a garage, or dog house,
I think there are always additional expenses
you did not foresee!

We started building our house because
my sister wanted to have a home already,
and we shared the lot.
I did not want her to have a house
that looked like half a house!
Towards the end I had to pray a lot
because I knew the money we had was not enough!

Would we just have a shell of a house?
Would we just use the ground floor?
My parents helped without my asking them!
My dad even got a carpenter
and managed the construction of all our cabinets!

I think when we say,
"Yes I will follow you, Jesus!"
we don't really know the cost.
When I joined my covenant community,
I did not realize how many meetings, retreats,
commitments I would have to attend.
But I said YES because I believed
God called me (that's a loooong story in itself).

But like my parents came through for me
when I needed the money for our house,
Jesus comes through for us
when we need Him!
We need to count the cost of following Jesus,
we take our commitments seriously,
but we can depend on Him
to be our partner!

"Rejoice in HOPE,
be PATIENT in affliction,
PERSEVERE in prayer." Romans 12:12

Whatever we are going through,
we have an inner source of hope,
of strength, of peace beyond understanding.
We have a partner, a shepherd, a guide,
a friend in Jesus!

Life is Like That!

My family and I spent the weekend at the beach.
My 87 year old father went sailing on his Sunfish.
The very clear and sunny weather
turned foul suddenly and he was far out!
There was thunder and lightning and he was out there
with the metal mast of his sailboat sticking out.
He said, "Napadasal ako!" "I had to pray!"
Thank you God, he was able to get the boat back to shore!

Life is like that.
It can be very serene, peaceful. Everything going right!
Then something unexpected happens.

We just need to wait on the Lord!
Wait with courage,
be stouthearted!!!

We need to be peacemakers-
not only for others,
but for ourselves as well!
When things get rough,
we need to find the peace
that is beyond understanding.
I think being a peacemaker is a
step by step process.
We don't become peacemakers overnight!
It is especially hard to be a peacemaker
when things are stressful all around.

One of the ways we can be peacemakers,
is to continue to put ourselves in the presence of God.
Continue to put ourselves
in the presence of God's Word!

There is SO MUCH to learn!
But God is faithful and He will
finish what He started!
