WOYWW: Remain in Me

I’ve been preparing for an upcoming workshop and have been quite busy making samples.

The theme is especially for Mother’s Day.

“If you remain in me and My Words remain in you...” John 15:7

There are two important men named Saul in the Bible. One Saul was the first King of the Israelite nation but he became proud and unteachable. The prophet Samuel told him, “Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he also hath rejected thee from being king” (1 Samuel 15:23). The kingdom was given to David.

The second Saul was a brilliant, charismatic man ,perhaps the most successful writer in the world. Saint Paul wrote two-thirds of the New Testament and the Bible is the best-selling book of all time with over 5 billion copies sold. But Paul said of all his accomplishments: “I could have confidence in my own effort if anyone could. Indeed, if others have reason for confidence in their own efforts, I have even more!...”I once thought these things were  so very important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done.” (Philippians 3:4-8) Saint Paul was humble and obedient, and put Christ and His Words first.

We too need to remain and abide in Christ and let His Words remain in us. Philip Schaff, a historian, wrote: “Jesus of Nazareth, without money and arms, conquered more millions than Alexander the Great, Caesar, Mohammed, and Napoleon; without science and learning, he shed more light on things human and divine than all philosophers and scholars combined; without the eloquence of school, he spoke such words of life as were never spoken before or since, and produced effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; without writing a single line, he set more pens in motion, and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art, and songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times.” Yes, we need to listen, read, and obey Jesus’ words!
