It is the Lord!

I'm running late for the party!

Paint Party Friday that is! 

But I did arrive eventually!

Here's page 2 of my altered book.

Again some painted collage elements

glued on to a wall puttied background.

A journal page from earlier in the week,

a passage from Luke 24 which reads,

"He opened their minds to understand the 

scriptures."

This is from the story of Cleofas and another disciple

on the road to Emmaus.

They did not realize that it was Jesus

explaining the scriptures to them!

But when He opened their minds to the 

scriptures, they were amazed! 

And from my journal today,

a passage from John 21:

"It is the Lord!"

Like the disciples, many of us

do not recognize the Lord

when He comes and visits us.

He may be in the form of a friend

who encourages,

a parent who corrects in love,

a letter from far away,

a blog post,

etc.

However, we may be sure that

if we keep our eyes and heart open,

He can open up the meaning of the 

scriptures for us!

What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday?

Had to take  a picture of my desk fast this morning!

My sister Peggy shouted from next door:

"WOYWW!"

prompting my son to come rushing in,

"Mom, did you hear Auntie Peggy shout WOYWW?"

It's a family affair!

Resurrection Sunday

A blessed Easter Sunday to you!

It's been wonderful going through the 

Lenten Season with you,

my blog friends!

And it will be even more exciting

now that Resurrection Sunday has arrived!

We celebrate the brightest Holy day 

as we are witnesses through

the Good news of the empty tomb!

We stood under the cross,

now we stand before the stone that

was rolled away!

The challenge now is,

what will our response be?

PPF: It is Finished!

I finished reinforcing my endpaper 

in my Altered Book Lover,

which I started because of the 

amazing Elizabeth of Altered Books.

She teaches many things,

including how to get started, 

basic supplies, creating a niche,

a thorough study of different kinds of glues, 

and design principles. 

So far, that's where we are.

I'm sorry, Elizabeth, I'm not a 

very good student!

I get so happy painting and pasting!

You've got some wonderful students 

who are really great at 

following directions! 

I covered this page with gesso first,

and then used gel medium,

glue stick and white glue to attach

my collage elements.

All of them worked fine! 

Today is Good Friday and 

the reading for today is from John 18 and 19

about the Crucifixion of Jesus.

Jesus uttered, "It is finished,"

after three hours on the cross,

three hours of darkness.

Leonard Ravenhill, an evangelist, wrote:

There was an historian in Egypt

at the time who wrote this, 

"In this awful mid-day 

that has become midnight,

either God is suffering or 

Somebody He loves is suffering."

That was pagan testimony.

WOYWW: Is it I, Lord?

On my desk this morning, my journal.

You can see a really dirty rag, 

gel medium (I've been doing some pages 

for my altered book), a spray bottle,

paint, foam brushes that I haven't used yet,

and brushes of course! 

I did try to spend a longer time in prayer

this morning, as this is the Wednesday of Holy week.

I read about how Judas, who was chosen by Jesus

to be one of the Twelve Disciples,

betrayed him.

Jesus said, "Amen, I say to you,

one of you will betray me."

Judas answered, 

"Surely it is not I, Rabbi?"

"Surely it is not I, Lord?"

may be the cry of every heart 

at one time or another!

We are unfaithful,

prone to making God

in OUR OWN IMAGE,

and often cowardly,

unwilling to stand for

what is right!

Still we can depend on God to make 

"Beauty out of our ashes",

if we are willing to turn away from sin,

and turn to Him. 

Judas' tragedy is that he lost hope.

He could have become a great saint too

if he faced his sin,

asked forgiveness,

and turned back to God.

Love EXTRAvagantly!

This is a drawing of 

Mary, the sister of Lazarus.

When she cleaned Jesus' feet with 

costly perfumed oil, she wiped his feet

afterwards with her hair.

The story can be found in the Gospel of

John, chapter 12, verses 1-11.

Mary washed Jesus' feet

with the expensive oil,

and it remained on her hair!

Like Mary, when we

do good,love extravagantly,

spreading its perfume,

the wonder of it is,

its odor sticks to us!

Love is not left on 

those we lavish it on!
