What's happening in my craft room?

Here is what I've done so far.
I did not realize her arm was small
compared to her head and her body
till I had glued it on.
Now I am going to have to cover it up
with something!
Any suggestions?

This is how I did her face-
My sister Peggy told me the easiest way to
learn how to draw a face was
to trace faces again and again
till your hand muscles remember.
So that is what I did.

How about a scarf? You could drape it over her arm, have it go around her back or something like that. I don't now if you'd call it a scarf or a shawl, but I see them everywhere. =)

    Love your work.

  5. I love it, Patsy, and I don't think you should cover/change her arm! It's perfectly imperfect and lovely in so many ways :)

  6. I agree with Jennifer - I don't think you need to cover it up.... it's stylized! :o)

Beautiful piece... and I love the idea about "tracing" faces until your hand remembers. Seems like there could be a neat spiritual parallel to that...

    Thanks for sharing!

  7. I love it like it is...but you can do what feel right for you because this is your art. I think it is wonderful..don't nit-pic the sizes of things. it was meant to be as it is , maybe right ? Just my thoughts off the tip of my brain. your sister is very sweet too what a great idea about training the mind with tracing faces to improve .. that is what I will try... I'm afraid of making people a little bit. I stick with my love of nature.

happy PPF..HUGS to you, my friend

  9. I love it : )
    You are talented.
What about a scarf that is draping around her neck and arm...would that camoflauge the small arm? I don't know.

A really lovely likeness! I wouldn't worry about the arm. It isn't a photo. It's a painting, after all. Sometimes we can over-work a painting. Stop and look to see if it is where you want it to be. I like the tracing over the face technique. Faye

  11. Very pretty!

I think it's fun and stylized the way it is but long sleeves might help?

  20. This is so happy, love all the bright colors. I didn't notice her arm until you said something, so it's mostly noticeable to you I think.

  21. I think her and her arm are fabulous just as they are...but you could give her a bouquet of flowers if you really think you need to hide it!

  26. Hi Patsy! You know, I hardly noticed the fault you identified. My attention was confined on her face and the great blending of colors.

  28. I like the arm too, but if you were wanting to cover it up, maybe have here holding a bunch of flowers!

You may find researching DaVinci's golden means helpful for your figure drawing/painting. I know I did. When I started out with the figure I used it a lot in order to understand the relationship of one body part to an other. Here is a Diagram I did up using the golden means principal. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=332260079094&set=a.176661059094.122732.119894169094&type=3&theater

  29. I like this the way it is, great job. If you really want to cover the arm because you feel you should I do like the suggestion of a scarf or shawl, but unless it really bothers you I would leave it as it.

  31. I think you should leave it the way it is. That's the beauty of art, it can be perfectly imperfect. Love it!
