I was a little lazy this morning,
too lazy to draw.
So I picked up my pile of pictures
and chose one to trace.
I loved this picture of a not so
slender lady to illustrate my bible verse.
"Can God spread a table in the desert?"
Psalm 78:19
The song, "Come to the table of plenty..."
kept running in my mind for some reason,
so I added it to my picture too!
Sometimes we think,
"If only I had more money,
I would be happy..."
"If only I had more friends,
was more popular,
had a great job,
a wonderful husband,
a beautiful house...."
But I've read enough horror stories
(like this rich young man who committed suicide,
winners of the lotto
whose lives got messed up big time,
popular actors who die from
too much drink and drugs,
etc etc)
to know it is not money, or fame,
or popularity, or a handsome prince of a husband
that will give us joy.
C.S. Lewis said, "If we find ourselves with a desire
that nothing in this world can satisfy,
the most probable explanation is that
we were made for another world."
We were also made to be part of a
bigger spiritual family...
including all the saints who have gone on
before us.
Isn't it exciting to think of
Saint Paul as our fiery older brother,
or awesome Moses,
or Padre Pio, Saint Bernadette,
Saint Therese, etc as part of our family?
We are pilgrims here on earth.
We belong in a better place!
Every week I choose one wonderful visitor
who leaves a comment
to receive an ATC from me.
I know it takes so much time and effort
to leave a comment
and I appreciate it soooo much!
This week,
Random.org chose

Once again you have given words of wisdom and beautiful journal pages.
ReplyDeletethank you.
It's not what we don't have. It's what we do with what we have :) Thank you for another meaningful and artistic post Patsy :)
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed week!
I love coming here, your posts are so uplifting. I have had a difficult few years, which has rendered me a bit negative or rather defeated at times, then I read your posts and it always touches me, and makes me think about what is positive. Which is sometimes very hard to do when you feel defeated. Just an FYI, St. Therese is my one of my absolute favorite Saints. Since you mentioned her, I thought I'd throw that in there. Thanks for another beautiful post Patsy. (((HUGS)))

Now you see, you do it and it gives the rest of us permission to trace and copy - what a great way to work a picture. I like the not so slender..and I like that you found a published pic in the first place of a not so slender!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, Patsy. Father God invites each of us to His banqueting table - what an incredibly privileged invite! A good place to be. Have just been reading the story of Mephibosheth. David insisted he was to eat at the King's table and he was "lame in both feet". We come to God as we are - and are welcome 'cos He loves us.
ReplyDeleteWonderful.
have a great week.

Very fine post, Patsy--even when we know this, sometimes we need a reminder, yes?

Oh this is beautiful. I love how you incorporate your thoughts and your drawings. I keep mine separate. Taking a course this week that might help me do both together.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to Sunday Stillness.

Loving your thoughts and quotes today, it is so true that money does not buy happiness and we should be grateful for all the things we have. Your creations inspired by these thoughts are wonderful too. I particularly love the background behind your first piece. Happy WOYWW! Danie #72
