WOYWW: The Star Breather

This is what I left on my desk last night.
I painted wall putty on book paper and
I left it drying on my desk...

 and on my drawers.
When I came down this morning,
I collected all of it and piled it up.

"Lift up your eyes on high and see who created these things..." Isaiah 40:26
When we lift up our eyes to the night sky, do we gaze up in awe at what God has made? Psalm 33:6 reads, "By the WORD of the Lord the heavens were made, by the breath of His mouth all their stars." He is a star breather, a galaxy making God! We can look up and see the size of the God we worship!
I like listening to Louie Giglio expound on how great our God is. He talks about how big our sun is, Betelgeuse, M U Cephei the red giant star , and Canis Majoris, the hyperstar. Canis majoris, if placed at the center of our solar system would extend beyond the orbit of Jupiter!

But my absolute favorite is the beautiful Whirlpool Galaxy, which even if it is so far away, can sometimes be seen using binoculars. At the heart of its spiral is a black hole in the shape of a cross!
But we don't have to look far to see the glory of God. St. Augustine wrote, "“And men go abroad to admire the heights of mountains, the mighty waves of the sea, the broad tides of rivers, the compass of the ocean, and the circuits of the stars, yet pass over the mystery of themselves without a thought.”

There is much to marvel at in our bodies. Just the DNA in each of our cells is mind boggling! If stretched out, it would form a very thin thread 2 meters long! But my absolute favorite is what connects each cell to the other cells. This cell adhesion molecule is called Laminin, and if we look at it through an electron microscope, it too is in the shape of a cross!

"For by Him all things were created...He is before all things, and in Him ALL things hold together." Colossians 1:15-17
Thank you Lord! No matter what circumstances I face, You hold my life in Your hands. You are a big God, and You created the Universe, AND me, with the same care and attention to detail. It amazes me that You have put Your imprint in the very center of my being!

I find a lot of inspiration
visiting my friends here:

  1. Your painting is beautiful. I remember seeing a video about Laminin. Isn't it amazing how the Lord's glory is displayed throughout creation, from the biggest to the most microscopic thing?
    Blessing hugs,

  2. I forgot to ask you what does the wall putty do for your pages?

    1. Hi Teresa! I like using wall putty as an alternative to gesso cause it's cheaper. It gives texture, and what artists call "tooth" (provides for the attachment of succeeding layers of paint.) I also use it so that the paper will not absorb the paint. :^)

  3. Your work looks wonderful as always :)
    hugs Nikki 1

  4. Hi Patsy - I love the LG videos, too - have you seen the one about the inside of a human body? Amazing and fascinating. Lovely art work and verses, as always. Thanks so much for sharing, and have a great week. Chris # 13

  5. Always inspiring thoughts.

"Candle of Preparation", Preparation means to 'get ready'. "Help us to be ready to welcome You, O God!" (Luke 3:4-6)

  10. Such amazing details in God's creation. I've been amazed by this through out adoption processes and some details of my kids that fit perfectly with my husband and me, even though biology isn't a factor. God is good like that. Thanks for linking up at #ThreeWordWednesday.

  11. Hadn't stop by in a while. Beautiful painting!
