Paint Party Friday: Cornerstone

Really slow going on these two collages.
If you want to know why (bad bad girl!),
read my previous post

The top collage of the girl was made
during our Crafternoon last Saturday.
We had a lot of fun making backgrounds
using stamps, sprays, etc!
Then we traced faces (an easy way to make
faces if you don't know how to draw!)

On my desk this morning,
I'm doing my journal.

Matthew 21:42 reads
"The stone that the builders rejected
has become the CORNERSTONE."

In ancient times, the cornerstone
was laid on the foundation to guide
where the other stones would go.
Christ is the cornerstone
and we need to LINE UP our lives
with His Word!

WOYWW: Do Small Things with Great Love!

My desk early this morning.
After working on my journal.
Do you spy the Ipad to the right?
I have been playing Sims Free Play
and it is seriously taking time from my painting!
It's like playing paper dolls-
only this time, the dolls move on their own
and need to go to the bathroom!!!

We had a Crafternoon last Saturday
with my sister and some friends.
We did backgrounds and faces.
This is what I made so far.
The flowers and birds are from another project
and I am just trying it on here.
And since I like the idea,
I am making more flowers for her hair.

From yesterday's journal:
"The greatest among you
must be your servant."
Matthew 23:11

And from today's:
"The Son of Man did not come
to be served but to serve
and to give His life for the ransom
of many."  Matthew 20:28

To be a good leader,
one must be a servant first.
Think Mother Teresa,
who said:
"Not all of us can do great things,
but we can do small things
with great love."

A Good Measure, Overflowing!

Luke 6: 37-38
"Give and gifts will be given to you;
good measure, packed together,
shaken down and overflowing
will be poured into your lap.
For the measure with which you measure
will in turn be measured out to you."

If we are not generous with our
time, talent and treasure,
we will be like the Dead Sea:
because it has no outlet,
no water flows out of it,
it is so rich in minerals that
no fish can live in it.

The water is so dense that
one can float in it and not sink!

This is one reason why my sister Peggy and I
like sharing our joy in creating!

We held a Crafternoon last Saturday
and enjoyed making backgrounds
and making faces!
Truly when we are generous with
what God has blessed us with,
our cups runneth over!

Paint Party Friday: More Things

A couple of days ago,
I finished this,
using designs by my
niece Elyse for her Fine Arts thesis.

And here is something I'm working on right now.
I'm having a lot of fun drawing birds and butterflies,
and flowers. Now what other insects or animals
can I include here to show the marvels
of God's creation?

On my journal today,
a verse from Psalm 130:
"I wait with longing for the Lord...
my soul waits for His Word."

I always start my day with prayer.
It makes me strong,
"More things are wrought by prayer
than this world dreams of."
(Alfred, Lord Tennyson)
