Psalm 139
I like using scraps, materials you would usually throw away. I try to find substitutes for expensive craft supplies. I make do with what I have. That's what my mother trained us to do ever since we were young- Reuse, Reduce, Recycle! is something we grew up with. Felt scraps would transform into "food" for our play kitchen, toilet paper rolls would become dolls with paper mache, bottles would turn into banks.
The downside is I seldom throw things away- I keep pistachio nut shells, corks, plastic bottles, candy wrappers, etc! All in the hopes that one day I'll use them for something fantastic!
One thing I've been doing lately is painting book pages. Some books I never want to read again and I can't think of anybody to give it to. So I tear the pages and paint the pages. Solid colors, stripes, checks, etc. So much fun! Then I cut them up to use for collages. I'm not expecting this to last forever as I usually use this for my journals and gifts to friends.
Here's something I did during one of my morning meditations. I used pages of a 2007 daily devotional.

This is lovely. I, too, have been taught at an early age to save everything because you never know what you could make with it later. This is a fantastic idea for using books that you will never read again!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and for the encouragement! I have found that exactly what you said is true- the enemy is after my thoughts. God has greatly been encouraging me in the last week and reminded me that He won't give me anything I can't handle and this is all for His glory. Although I don't want to be sick- He is teaching me so much and it has been a huge blessing. Thanks again for the wonderful reminders of God's faithfulness and peace! God bless you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and clever idea to use book pages to paint on. I've never thought of that. Just found your blog and I'm enjoying your creative artwork.
