Do We Hear God's Voice and a Christmas Giveaway!

The reading yesterday was from the
3rd chapter of Luke:
"The voice of one calling in the desert:
Prepare the way of the Lord!"

Do we hear God's voice? No?
Perhaps it is because we are in the "city",
surrounded by all the noise and cacophony.
John the Baptist and even Jesus himself
withdrew to a quiet place by themselves-
the desert, the mountain, a closed room.
If they had to do this to hear God's voice,
how much more should we?

If we quiet our hearts,
we will hear God speaking to us.
"Be strong, fear not!
Here is Your God!"
Isaiah 35:4

He will speak to us of things we need to hear.
I am taking the time to
listen to Him this Advent season.
I need to hear Him say to me,
"Fear not! Here is Your God! I am with you!"

Proverbs 4 says:
"Keep your heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life."

I thought it was time for a
Christmas Giveaway!
Here's an ATC I made in 2009
and the design was made into a necklace.
Would you like to win the ATC and the
necklace from our gift shop,
When I have time,
I will look for more stuff to add.

Tell me what you're doing this Advent
to prepare for Christmas
or what you usually do on Christmas day.

All my friends on GFC, Networked Blogs,
and Linky Friends are automatically

For additional entries you may
blog about it, put it on your sidebar, tweet,
put it on Facebook or
whatever else you can think of!
Just put an additional comment
for each thing you do.

I LOVE you all!
You have been my encouragement

Every week I choose one wonderful

  2. Hey Patsy! Thank you so much for dropping by and linking up! I love all your pictures and your observation that we need to be alone to hear God is spot on! "Be still and know." If we are...we will!

  3. Ordinary Words...Good thoughts♫ Yesterday I attended a concert by a gifted pianist at our local church (Huntley Brown who is world renowned)The acoustics were perfect for listening and singing along to his Christmas songs...a good way to kick off Advent♫♪

  4. Always enjoy your paintings! These are great!

  5. I am reading through John Piper's "Good News of Great Joy", devotional Advent readings!

  6. Another great work and love how you incorporate the scriptures all the time. Thanks for blessing us this week with your lovely project at Word Art Wednesday. Hugs always!

  7. Love the drawings and the ATC and necklace is just amazing!
Lots of warm wishes from sunny South Africa.

  8. Oh, Patsy! How beautiful! I love this artwork of John the Baptizer. And the necklace is amazing. For Advent, we read a devotional each night (well, most nights, anyway...we do miss occasionally due to activities) and light our candles on our wreath (we have Ann Voskamp's way of the light wreath that her son Caleb is lovely when all the candles are lit, just make sure you aren't near the fire alarm!)ON Christmas Eve we go to my Mother and Father-in-law's for snacks and family visiting and then to Christmas Eve service. On Christmas day we open gifts early and stay in our pjs late into the morning. We have a family dinner with my husband's family in the afternoon. It is a beautiful time for family and much, much love.

  9. You have given us all a gift Patsy. It's your lovely blog. It brings back focus to what matters and centres us. Thank you.

  10. Please count me in Patsy!

The usual thing I do for Christmas is to spend more time with my family, set aside work and attend masses when my holiday break starts.

  11. I would love to have one of your very special ATCs, Patsy. You are so grounded and bring us back to our roots from the beginning of time. I like the idea that we need some quiet away in order to hear God, and to rest our minds and be reassured that all will be alright.

I am so glad you dropped by! You are a blessing!
