“May it be done unto me according to Your Word.” Luke 1:38
If only Adam and Eve had Mary’s disposition! They would not have willfully disobeyed God and eaten of the tree God had expressly forbidden them to eat. Because of this, sin came into the world, along with hunger, social injustice, disease, and all sorts of perversions of God’s perfect will.
I lie here in my hospital bed blaming Eve for my probable congenital defect that caused my pulmonary embolism. But I realize I am no Mary, she who was full of grace and who found favor with God. If I was in the garden, I probably would have eaten the forbidden fruit too! Again and again, we choose the forbidden fruit over God’s laws of mercy, grace, forgiveness and generosity towards others. Father, in this season of Advent, help us to realize that we need only to repent of our sin and You will run towards us like the father of the prodigal son.
Nothing can separate us from God’s love, neither death, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.(Romans 8:38-39)
Thanks for sharing. May God heal and bless you Patsy, in Jesus' name. Amen.
