“If I find favor with You, O Lord, do come along in our company.” Exodus 34:9
Back in Moses’ time, they did not have churches, they had meeting tents. Moses would enter the tent and talk to God face to face, as one man speaks to another. Moses asked, “If I find favor with You, O Lord, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as Your own.” God had to make a way so that even in our wickedness and sins, He could receive us as His own.
He had to send His Son as a sacrifice. The blood of Jesus is the only way that we can find favor with God. Jesus’ blood won our salvation. One day, an atheist and the German evangelist Richard Bonnke faced each other on a radio show. The atheist scoffed, “How can you claim the blood of Jesus is powerful? It has been around for more than 2,000 years but the world is worse than before!” Richard Bonnke then answered, “Soap has been around since before Christ but there are many people who still go around dirty. Do you know how soap works? You have to wash yourself with soap before you will get clean. Even if you work in a soap factory, surrounded by soap, you will not get clean if you do not use it.”
Father in heaven, thank You for the saving blood of Your Son Jesus. Scripture says that evil is defeated by the Blood of the Lamb, so we ask that His Blood cover all who are in need of protection (all civil, religious and lay leaders, our families, friends, all those for whom we have promised to pray, and ourselves). We mark the borders of our nation and the doorposts of our churches, homes, schools and offices with the Precious Blood of Jesus. Amen
